XPS owners or soon to be owners- what cover did you choose? - Page 2

betazen,

my, oh my, you've become a little cynical...lol I was just thinking maybe I should start a new sideline...make my own set of covers: one with my business logo and others with anything I want...and maybe help others "express" themselves...

Heck! What am I thinking?!? I don't even have my XPS yet!

Most of us don't! I'm just tired and I want my computer already and I want it in working order!

Hear hear - except this XPS thingee is starting to lose it's lustre (A month to two months to deliver it... and there's a better than average chance it WON'T WORK based on Karl's experience? Remind me again why I want this thing?)

can u use the XPS covers with the I8600?

Got the Plasma (ordered 3/28).

The Skullz didn't look that great to me. I think it's the buckteeth.

I'm unsure, I don't know whether the screen cover has the same type of grooves, and depth, for it to snap on, but I know that its length and width are the same. Maybe an XPS owner can shed some light on this.

Why do you want one of the XPS ones anyway? I suppose everybody has their preferences, but IMO the i8600 offerings are much better, especially the Graphite swirl (I have it on order now )

Ditto.

Anticipation is a good thing...adds to the thrill and excitement, buit this is getting ridiculous and as KevDA stated, it is losing its lustre, and by the time I get it maybe the next cool thing will be out!

Still contemplating canceling, the sager looks to be similarly configured..., but I do love Dell's onsite suport...

Actually, I think that if/when we receive it we all will be better off for Karl's, et al's, experience. I think it'll work; my doubt is if it will ever come...

Hey Whitecollar,

He meant his Logitech MX510. Go look at his post; click the link; and you'll see a pic.

BTW, very cool mouse, betazen...Plasma makes a perfect design statement. And I'm feeling awfully girly with the Cipher choice now...

Certainly no problems with Karl's work on this (orders of magnitude above and beyond the call IMHO). But it's up to Dell to actually deliver a machine that works.

If you can kill a bad unit in minutes with a standard 3D benchmark, it tells us that the "tests" Dell runs do not involve 3D. Which means they may as well be throwing darts blindfolded to determine if your machine will actually work for 3D....

Hey group, I was wondering if anyone who got the quicksnaps for the XPS didn't want them. My brother in law got an XPS and is looking to buy the SKULLS or Plasma quicksnap. Any body willing to sell?? Let me know please. thanks

I didn't get a cover, because I was ordering through Dell Canada, and the covers were $40 extra. I'm glad I had the option to save 40 bucks, because those covers look incredibly cheap and crappy, IMHO. Sorry if I've offended anyone who likes them.

hmmmmm well when i ordered my xps, it was "included". i put quotes around the included word because i don't know if dell simply added the $40 to the base price of the system or if dell is truly giving the covers out for free without including any additional money in the base price

Rule of thumb - nothing is really "free." You're paying for it somewhere....

But I gather that either with more recent orders or with the US site (or both) there wasn't / isn't the option not to get the quick snaps.

About the look, I agree with Stu - the best looking to me is the Graphite from the rest of the Inspiron line. That said, I probably still would have gone with "basic XPS." To put it in perspective, one of the promos way back in the mists of time when I ordered my i8000 was it came with all the snap-in wrist rest colours "for free." I think I may have tried one alternate set once, then put it back on the standard black ones and left it that way ever since....
