Wireless router for Dell i8600

Thread Starter
Just ordered my dell i8600 and got the IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless 802.11 b/g, 54Mbps, and need a good wireless router for home networking. I live in a 1500sq house(ranch) with DSL and will be using the lappy all around inside and possibly outside on occasion, any recomendations? I have looked at the the LYNKSYS, NETGEAR and D-LINK online and am still researching, does anyone have any opinions or ideas? I will be checking Cnet and Epinions.com as well, but I trust the opinions and advice here greatly!

I just recently got a D-Link DI-624 wireless B/G router. It works great, and can be had pretty cheaply thanks to the $20 rebate they've got going. It has great range, supports WAP, and "SuperG" 108mbps mode, if you have a NIC that supports it. It's less than half the size of the linksys router I upgraded from, and hasn't given me a single problem yet.

The configuration interface could be better, but once you figure it out, it's pretty easy to use.

I use a Netgear MR814 (Ver. 1) with WEP enabled and it works great with my Truemobile 1300.

I have the D-Link DI-524 b/g router and its working great here. Supports WEP and WPA ..

Anyone use the Truemobile router? I'd like to know how that works. It supports all the speeds. WPA, WEP and has SPI if I recall correctly.

Truemobile 2300 here....some have had issues, but I find the setup, configuration & operation trouble free.

Make sure you do NOT install the TM router admin utilty, just use IE to access the settings.

i had a dlink wireless router before and it gave me all sorts of problems, in fact i couldn't get it up and running

i've had a couple of linksys routers and they all worked like a charm, upgraded my wired linksys router for a wireless b router and it worked right out of the box. I will be upgrading again very shortly to a wireless b/g router and i will definitely be going with linksys again

That's what I have too, but (and I haven't spent a lot of time on this) I have an internal DSL modem. It was free at the time, and I don't want to buy an external modem at the moment. Do you, or anyone else here, have any tips on how to get it up and running? My i8600 with the 1300 b/g card recognizes it, but I cannot get any data to transfer. Any website to point me to would be great, too.
