HP dv4037cl, touchpad and keyboard don't work, need fn keys through usb keyboard

Thread Starter
My HP dv4037cl motherboard has some issues. Due to that the touchpad and the keyboard don't work. But I can connect through wireless usb keyboard/mouse.

Recently I sent to PC Laptops to fix and they screwed up my LCD. Now I can't anything on the LCD. Bought KVM switch to switch between screens, thanks to XP I can see the screen after xp boots up.

Now my question is, how can I see the initial bios, boot screen? How can I simulate Fn+F4 to switch to external monitor with usb keyboard?

I saw some reference to Alt+Ctrl+f12, but doesn't seem to work.

Please let me know if there is anyway I can simulate Fn+F4 to switch to external monitor to see boot screen. I want to use the laptop for some testing purposes and need to boot through DVD/CD and install linux.

TIA

i am wondering if that company that repaired your machine forgot to plug in the mouse/keyboard cables. i have seen issues with the touchpad going bad, or a motherboard issue causing the mouse to not respond. as far as the keyboard, the only time i have seen one of these go bad was because a person spilled liquid on it...

what work did those people do for you?
