Bluetooth working well with wireless setup on the 8790

Hey guys,

I know some people have had some questions about compatibility issues on the 8790 with using bluetooth devices with a wireless internet hookup in combination. I can verify that both work in unison flawlessly. Here's what I got:

8790 with internal wireless and bluetooth enabled.

Bluetooth devices: Logitech Cordless MX for Bluetooth (keyboard and mouse)
Description link: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...=7153,detail=1

Wireless device: D-Link AirPlusXtreme G
Description link: http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=6

I didn't have any problems getting my mouse to work right away. Eventhough it wasn't needed, I did install the logitech software in case it would increase the product's versitility. I had a little problems getting the keyboard synced up, so I shut down the wireless network, synced the keyboard, then started back up the wireless network. The reason I went for this product was the impressive reviews that I've read about the Logitech MX900 mouse in terms of gaming. Haven't gamed with it yet, but it seems to be smooth and feels ergonomically comfortable.

The wireless network Tx rate of 48 Mbps and a Rx-Rate of 11 Mbps.

Hope that relaxes some minds out there in terms of compatibility of both internal wireless and bluetooth used in conjunction.

So far no problems with my 8790, still gotta do all my bench marks, but so far I'm really impressed.

I think the cordless mouse has its own bluetooth hub in the mouse recharger, so the internal bluetooth chip is not use.
I could be wrong?

Just to add another confirmation - I'm using a Jabra BT200 headset with my 8790's built in 802.11g and everything's working fine.

Yeah, I'd like to know about this, too. I'd hope that I wouldn't need the mouse hub (except for recharging, but I'd probably use regular batteries).

I am using the logitech bluetooth mouse and I not using the included hub (or software) at all and I am using regular batteries. Works fine.

Good to know, thanks. I think I'll go with that small Bluetake mouse. My MX700 is too large for my hands.

Wish I would've seen Capt. Vegas's answer before I went to Sapporo today. Was looking at Bluetooth mice, but having no experience w/ them, wasn't sure how they all worked. Sales idiot didn't have a clue about built-in Bluetooth. Insisted that yes, I need the hub (even though he couldn't tell me that there was Logictech mice right in front of us- he said that the MS Bluetooth mouse was the only available one...).

Thanks for the heads up, Vegas, I'll have to go back and wrangle up some idiots and then rope me a mouse.

So far, I've been using a regular Intellimouse optical (and absolute love it- actually have 2; one for home, one for work). How do you like the logitech?

i have the MS bluetooth mouse. It looks really snazzy, but doesn't perform. i can't recommend it. (i'm going to try it with my incoming 8790 and see if it performs better than with my desktop PC. if not, onto ebay you go!)

So I've been looking into the bluetooth compatibility question a little more. The previous statement by dunatoAllos is true, you may need the hub for the mx900 to work. I've called Logitech, Billionton (the bluetooth software manufacturers) and PCTorque and SAGER with some help in this reguard. At the moment, the internal bluetooth is able to discover the mx900 mouse and pair it, but no services are available for it to assign. SAGER informed me that they are going to purchase the mouse and see if they can get it to work with the internal bluetooth. Has anyone had any luck using a bluetooth mouse with their internal bluetooth configuration?

I have been using the Logitech Mx900 mouse for a week with my 8790 with the builtin bluetooth and it works fine. I never plugged in the included hub, I never installed their software, I just put the batteries in the mouse, pushed the little connect button on the bottom of the mouse, Windows saw the mouse and enabled it - bingo, magic it works.

As for the mouse itself I love it. Nice and comfortable, quick and response (good in FPSs). My Duracell batteries lasted about a week, I just had to change them, I guess I will go to rechargeables. It would be nice if this thing had an off switch, since it appears that some part it is still working even if it is sitting in my laptop bag (I guess it is checking to see if it has been moved so it can wake up). I may just start removing the batteries when not in use.

I have the MX900 working with my 8790.. I didnt plug in the USB cradle, or install any software, it works fine... I did plug the power into the cradle and use it as a charging stand, it doesnt charge off of USB it uses 110.

batteries are expensive. >_<

.. need a better solution for wireless. this cradle thing is a pretty good idea, cept its not very "wireless" when sitting in a cradle.

How did you configure your billington bluetooth neghborhood stuff to work with this mouse, because it does NOT work by just pressing the connect button on the mouse. Did anyone download a newer driver or something?

Answering my own post.

The drivers that came with bluetooth were version 1.3.?.7 (dont remember the ?). These have a USB icon in device mangler. When I try to see the mouse in bluetooth neighborhood, it shows as a PDA icon with a question mark superimposed over it.

I did some google searching and found the following

http://talknotebooks.com/showthread.php?t=9896

and this had a hack for installing 1.4.2.8 (at least that is what shows in device mangler). Also the icon is now it's own blue tooth device instead of under the usb (Universial serial bus controllers) in device mangler. When I went into bluetooth neighborhood, the mouse show as a mouse this time and after playing around and pressing the connect button and going through the wizard nice and slow to let things sync up, the mouse finally connected. It shows a weak signal when I pull up his connection dialog and the mouse is a bit shaky at best. Maybe I need to put the grey wire to the bt mini usb module instead o having both antenna wires on my miniPCI 54g card.

Is that what yall had to do to get this to work. Doesn't seem very intuitive to me. Maybe someone knows where some better drivers are. The install on these drivers was far from smooth. The first time around I got license dialogs and such saying my bluetooth isn't licensed for this or something like that. Plus the files in the patched zip file go in two places (the dll in windows\system32, by renaming the old one and rebooting, then the exes in the Program Files\WIDCOMM\... folder after ending the tray process.

This had too much playing to get it to work, and the driver that come with it install pretty easy, but the mouse just don't work.

Yep, it was the grey wire. Nice strong signal now. Didn't affect my wireless either. Wonder if aux is even used?
