i own a averatec 4100 series and my disk drive isnt ejecting nor is it reading disks when i eject it manually. I looked online at the users manual and nothing really shows me how to reset or eject my cd/dvd drive. what can u tell me?

so the drive wont read discs that you put in it?

is the drive listed in the windows device manager?

does it read any disc (cd, cdr, cdrw, dvd-rom, dvd+/-r/rw)?
in windows vs not in windows?

it could be windows failure or it could be the hardware failure

try deleting it from the windows hardware device manager
reboot
it will re-detect it

if it still doesnt read it or doesnt re-detect the hardware
see if you have a bootable cd (e.g. windows cd)
try to boot from it

if it says that it isnt a bootable disc or doesnt boot from it,
my guess is that the drive has failed

to my knowledge there is no way to "reset" cd/dvdrom drives

best of luck
