how to replace optical unit of Amilo 3438G

Hi there. My dvd burner of Amilo 3438G died just when the laptop went out of warranty. (1 year) I am pissed, because it's again one of the many problems i have had with this laptop and pos brand. I also never had a dvd/cd drive crap out this fast in my 15 year optical media life.

Anyway, enough FSC ranting. Is there some guide available which explains how to carefully swap this with a new drive? Also which drives fit?

I saw the following:

NEC AD-7540
NEC AD-7543
NEC AD-7633
NEC ND-6750
NEC ND-7550
Samsung SN-S082D

All slim drives of course.

ususally there r u screws at the bottom. take a look at it, possible that u might have to remove some part first (battery comes in mind) if it is right underneath the optical drive

u might have to look at the bezel to decide which one that u can buy and just swap out the old bezel (cover)
