1st Annual Sagerforum Awards

I figured some people needed to be recognized for their efforts. I’m by not the definitive expert on this, so feel free to add anyone you think needs recognition.

What can I say, it was a slow day at work…..

Most ubiquitous poster: Beebster
Honorable mention: denkc, Yale2006
Come on, is there anybody who deserves this more? Beebster gets this crown until someone else gets accused of being AI…

Biggest flamefest: Tie: Old_Buzzard and jtmat: there was this post a while back where Old_Buzzard flamed beebster and everyone went off on him. It was hilarious. Jtmat wanted a third party review and people were hammering on the guy. Only disappointing thing is that vanfanel closed that thread—and right as I was making a final post too (woulda been funny, I promise). But I suppose it was getting a little out of hand. Here’s the Old_Buzzard flamefest post for laughs. Also this was hilarious courtesy of the ever-obstinate jtmat.

Most over-threaded topic: SXGA vs. UXGA, 888X vs. 56XX, 888X carrying cases, S/PDIF (I’m a culprit here), hard drive clicking (not as much lately)… I’m sure everyone can add something to this; people really need to learn how to do searches.

The Uberoverclocker award: Nightshade737. Also neosen scored some good results (but both these guys are lurkers—see below)

The Lurker Award: 8-Way Tie among badluckboy, Nightshade737, Old Buzzard, 0110, lsd, DWStrickland, kreeper, neosen. What happened to these guys? Some of ‘em had great and/or hilarious posts in the past, but they’re gone now. 0110 actually poked his out recently, but has still been disappointingly absent.

I was gonna create an award for myself for "most interesting thread starter", but that seems a little self-serving. Although I think I've started some good ones (and made some good comments), there are some other interesting people who have added a lot to the forums in general. myrkat comes to mind. BazooDJG is another, even if he a mac-lover.

I leave anybody out?

leave anybody out

how's this for a belated response!

no, I can't think of anyone you left out deserving of any kind of honorable mention for anything *sniffle*

kidding!

cept I don't see how Adam/PCTorque avoids any kind of recognition in this post?

Yeah, I probably wasn't qualified to do such thing. I've been more of a lurker lately myself and missed a lot of people. You, gsferrari and few others too. The atively posting community is cycling quite a bit right now... Even beeb has been relatively silent.

Still here lurking.... I just don't ever post unless it is painfully necessary.

I'd like to add an award

Most posts in a 4 hour period
I believe Beeb's LAN Party post achieved this, boy was that a fun night

Getting mentioned is fun.

I'm not as much of a mac lover as I am a windows hater... but I'm running XP on my 8887, and hating it... due to some crashing I had with 3dmark. However, this may just be 3dmark, and perhaps XP is fine. All I know is, I'm giving it a fair chance.

Thanks, though, for mentioning me. I just joined a month ago, so... that's good to be mentioned after that short of a time.

Myrkat also got mentioned... How about gsferrari though? He deserves some props, as does vanfanel, and a plethora of other guys.

hee hee

Lots of people left out

Opusagogo, Vash, Zachquiel, atbear, denkc

Names are not really important...whats more important is that I havent really noticed people dropping off. Even Yale was back recently - with the midterms etc. things are quite tough...still...

This is the best forums I have ever been on and I have been on MANY!!

Cheers to everyone - all the peeps and ADAM

Actually, I like the idea of awards, but we need real catagories... We shouldn't just mention people off the top of our head. However, we SHOULD give people something to strive for with reviews and tech support.

I think these would be good.

1) Funniest thread.

2) Best reviewer

3) Most helpful (in tech support forums)

4) Wildest thread

5) Most posts award (doesn't count if posts are like... "I like that idea" or "Posting... gotta win that prize"... you know what I mean.)

Maybe that'd be good, because it'd make people get competative for positive goals. Laughter, quality reviews, quality tech support, laughter, and well, sheer quantity of posts, respectively.

I think it'd be a fun little thing. Perhaps Sager trivia would be fun too... who knows. LOL

lol, I don't think I should get that posting award; I seem to ask many more questions than answer.

But yeah, lts of people left out.

And for that reason, I don't really find a good reason in measuring the # of posts. I haven't been posting so much since I got my 8887, was too busy with it. Still, I don't think people should be coming to threads just to get awards.

But yeah, I guess this is pretty fun just to play around with.

Hmmm...

# of posts is misleading because I sometimes post a message with the foll body :-

"Yay - well done...congrats..." or fewer words which doesnt really mean anything to anyone.

I think as long as we're helping people out then its ok - no need to bring in a #of posts contest into the forums - its plain silly...

Investorguy

I really liked your ideas. That alone was enough for me to get a chuckle. Especially rehashing the Old Buzzard saga. And that jmat one was great. Like a little kid going "Why?" to every answer to every question. Hilarious.
As for regular awards, just an occasional person to make this thread to remind me of the times is good enough.
On a side note. I just realized, as I often do at 3:27 am, how sweet this computer is. I mean, it is so damn sweet. I am really probably more satisfied with this purchase I made than of almost any other major purchase I have ever made. Pinch me. out.

The diet coke of evil....

I was reading through the old_buzzard posts and the jtmat posts, and I realized that these (while humorous) aren't really that bad in terms of arguments. If that is the worst discussions that have happened on this forum than this is truly an amazing forum. I have seen so many other forums where threads will just spiral down into serious prophanity (sp?) and threats. Obviously that is all really helpful in terms of usefull information. Basically, what i am saying is that I applaud the members on this forum and all who try to keep the threads as usefull if not entertaining as possible.
