np Jerson3000.

First you have to consider if you will be playing anything else. Are you totally into sports games and tahts it? or do you dip occasionally into Counterstrike? Quake 4? Or other graphic intensive games.

Also what is your budget?

There's also the Dell Inspiron 1520 or Vostro 1500 (depending on which color you like, they're the same laptop) The Latitude D830's Quadro 140m isn't a total slouch either in games.

I was just like you last year when I was a freshman at Penn State. Now I'm a software and I sold my Dell XPS laptop for an Apple Macbook pro because trust me a gaming laptop will become more of an inconvience than helpful. My biggest problem was that the laptop barely fit on the classroom desks. If you want my advice I suggest a Dell E1705 *what I had* but trust me get a 15 in. laptop with a decent video card.

I think its a lot more convenient and smarter to get a gaming desktop and like a 500 $ laptop for school stuff but looks like you are already set on getting a gaming laptop.

Agree with the post above. And as for my previous post let me put it in another way. Think of it this way, when do you do gaming on the go? I mean be honest, last semester I occasionally did some gaming on a laptop in the library. Gaming is better in a stationary place where you can settle in. All in all I dont see a problem with a laptop running steam games or WoW (ya know pretty much the basic stuff) but if your looking for a 12 pound laptop that will run Crysis on Medium your money will be much better spent on a desktop to put in your dorm.

Well actually i need da laptop for a totally different reason besides school..... imma be out sumwhere next year 4 like 2 months and i will need to play a sport game tournament with ma friends that i promised them...... its kinda like a third world country and there will not be any electrcty ---- so i can forget about my Ps2 and psp (since we will all play against each other)--- and anyway i'll be workin on game design, graphic design and illustration......... so a laptop is ma last chance...since i can recharge it.......

1. your goin to a place that may not have electricity yet you'll have internet connection to play with your friends?
2. Game design, graphic design and illustration does not merit buying a high priced gaming laptop, a macbook pro is perfect for creativity.

Not all games are supported on a Mac. And if they are supported, they take months to be released to the mac os. This is key to his reason for his purchase.

................. no me and my friends are goin there.....plus I know sum people there..... we plan on playing using 2 logitech controllers........... so internet has nothin to do with it......... but do u think da mac pro is good enough at gaming???.......... i was planning on gettin one from da get go cuz i'm real good at using macs: but i heard sum crap like i cant play pc games on a mac or sumthin.. .. so is there anyway to play a game like madden 07 on a mac???.......And if so is the macbook good for a game like madden????.....wait i'm totally new to cp gamming ...so can people play 2 player games without using the internet????/.... u know like sitting at home playin ps2 with ur friend...... Pardon me if i sound a little "stupid' i jus was never on to pc games......

you can boot up windows xp using boot camp on macbooks. This is what I do to play Counter Strike source, WoW and a few other titles. Ea sport games on not demanding on computers and macbook pro would have no problem with them. Again I dont suggest macbook pro if all u care about is a gaming laptop. Def an alienware or dell would be good for that but I argue the point that you, like me, are college students and a 17 in. 12 lbs. gaming laptop isn't the most convienient. A solid laptop with a fast gaming desktop in your dorm is a better solution. *Heck even an SFF PC in your dorm so you can lug it around is a better solution* These are just my opinions though, everyone is entitled to theirs.
