I have power issues with my gateway MX 6448 laptop. The power charge light flickers on and off when I try to charge it. I think it might be the DC power jack, but I am not positive. I can get the computer to charge if I move the power cord around to certain positions. This has been happening for several months now and it is just getting worse. I am in Japan and can't really send it in to get it fixed. Does anyone have suggestions on guides to taking this particular computer apart? Soldering Irons to use/ guides on how to remove and install new DC power jacks? Places I can buy a new AC power adapter/ DC power jack? Thanks.

detailed steps r hard to come by. an outline of taking any laptop apart involves:
. remove ram, wifi, hard drive, lcd
. remove all bottom screws
. remove keyboard
. and the layers one by one
google "remove, replace, device ..." (replacing device with the part in question) and you will find abundant info
ac jack can pretty much be bought on the net (again google it)
browse the forum, u will also find lots of guides of previous users like u, taking apart laptop and replacing ac jack (with pics) - use them as reference
if u r the first one in ur model, please do come back with pic and personal info for next user.
cheers ...
