Virtualbox

Thread Starter
ok, so i've been on windows a lot for the past few weeks mainly because of the games.

and because i hate rebooting my comp, i dont go into linux as much as i'd like to.

so my question is, should i install virtualbox in Windows and use linux or install linux and virtualbox and emulate windows?

keep in mind, if i go with the second option will my games play well?

from what I've been told, games don't run as well virtually as they do natively, so I'd probably recommend installing it on Windows

VirtualBox does not do any 3D emulation. If you want that go with VMWare.

Personally I use Linux for everything, so for me it would definitly beput windows as a dual boot and virtualize the windows partition in Linux, boot into windows when I need the most performance or DX9 support as I believe VMWare only does up through DX8 right now.

But to each their own.

What games are you trying to play? I've gotten almost all of the games I play to run with WINE.

You know I am really starting to wonder... between green, blue, and red, exactly how many people involved in this site are using linux now?

I think I am going to start a new thread in this section for a sound off of that, I am really curious...

On topic, WINE does amazingly well, and if you dont mind spending a bit of time tweaking you can get a lot working in it. In fact recently I have come to the conclusion, while Cedega handles Copy Protection more gracefully, Wine is much more capable in straight technological capabilities.
