Did alittle sleeving tonight.

Six panaflo 120mm fans.

Tonight I decided that I'd mod the X-fi i/o flat ribbon cable. This cable is what is needed to connect the front panel connections and remote to the soundcard itself. Obviously this cable is very ugly and very hard to work with.

You'll need a very sharp razor.

Cut down in between the wires of your ribbon cable. It is not necessary to separate out every individual wire of your ribbon cable, but you can if you want to. I decirded to go by 3’s to make the separating effect.

I found it was best to cut down the ribbon cable about an inch and then gently pull the wires the rest of the way. Gently pull and separate the wires the length of the ribbon cable.

After separating every three wires we get something like this.

Sleeving installed.

All Finished. Looks alot better and it's alot easier to work with.

And of course I did recieve my new Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series Sound Card

They do I believe, but not Creative. They believe in flat ribbon only. So I figured I'd mod it, since I've never really seen anyone do it..

sorry for lack of updates, I haven,t been able to much. with the holidays and having a trip back home I haven't been able get any new gear for my rig. hopefully ill be getting my mobo, so I can start to mod it. I plan to volt mod, mod the mosfet heatsinks and change out the n/s bridge with the aftermarket heatsinks I have. but now it seems as if the mobo I want is sold out everywhere but a few places and I'm not sure I want to get the 780i whent it comes out.

*posting from my phone*

I'm also looking at using my works water/laser jet cutter on my case, so look out for that

Wondered what was going on with your build. GBQ, what kind of heatsinks do you have for the N/S bridges and MOSFET?

Your patience with the lapping is inspiring.

South: Thermalright HR-05 SLI
North: Noctua NC-U6

Everything has been updated on the front page.

As for the mosfets, I haven't decided what sinks I'm going to use. I'll be using MX-2 tim all around.

Which one?

DFI LP UT P35 T2R

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136037

ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA / SE

ASUS P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP

So now that EVGA has quit making the 680I because they basically lied about being 45nm quad ready and I doubt 780 series will be able to do anything with quads, because Intel and Nvidia are fighting over SLI.

I ask you...

Which one?

I vote for the P5K Deluxe

Like the features of it, and it seems to be held in high standings with many people

hey GBQ, off topic, but I just wanted to know what the prices for the Penryn 45nm chips. Since I think this CC dispute may take a bit to be finalized, so I might as well wait until I can get a rev. 1 GTS and Penryn quad core

I'm on my phone at work right now. I know 1000 cpu batch retail prices are going to be 316 for the q9450 which is amazing, but....... the new q9650 that's out right now is selling for 1400 so that's a 400 dollar markup.. ita tough to tell right now. I'm waiting for the q9450 myself.

GB, why not a Gigabyte P35 Ds4 mobo, its like 170 and it supports the new 45nm chips...I'm going to prolly upgrade to the 9650, but we'll see.

hmm well even if they are too high, it'll probably further knock down the current prices

Yeah I agree, the DS4 looks like a good mobo to me too.

Asus P5k.

I like my P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP, it has been a solid board. Don't think you could go wrong with the three you have there.

Bummer on the nvidia boards, guess a newer quad won't be goin in the backup rig .

I don't like the green on the DFI board.
