This is going to be like a 3 month project,

So I'm getting all of the parts that won't be obsolete or change in price dramatically.

So I'm getting my main parts, cpu, mobo, and ram last.

There was a system on ebay for like $3900, had Dual 8800 Ultras, Water Cooled, extreme edition quad 6850, some premium intel nvidia board, 1066 4gb memory, hes hitting like 15900 on 3Dmark06. At all stock speeds no overclocking.

Was a very nice setup!

I just need to get the review skills from you Duke and I'll be set. lol

I might have to steal the layout you stole from Craig

Hey Duke, what HDTV do you recommend for a monitor?

I really like that Sharp 32in pdonket mentioned

Another good one, in the case you don't plan on ever using it as an HDTV, but just as a monitor would be the Westinghouse 37" 1080p set as well

Not trying to whore the input panel here, but just saying

I pull a 10k OC'd slightly and I have 1000 into my rig total.

I get 15,600+ in 3DMark06 with 2x 8800 GTX cards and the E6850 CPU. Parts to DIY cost less than $2500.

I've found that even two 8800 GTX cards are overkill for everything I do except playing around with benchmark scores. One handles games just fine. I put one of the GTX cards into my other system to use as my Vista test rig. Glad I didn't spring for 2 Ultras, as I imagine the satisfaction of the extra 3DMark06 points would have faded rather quickly...

Nice Score Shazza, when you think about it 5 years ago, a gaming rig of that quality would run 4k or so...Now you can get a Kick ass gaming rig for 1500..I priced out a Quad Core with 8800Ultra for 1550 out the door loaded!

Damn you got 2 GTXs, I only got One GTS

What did you have in it? I assume that's without an OS, but even then...I get to $1300 with a much lower system, about $400 saved in the graphics department. So yeah, post specs.

Sounds like the best idea to me, especially considering the 8 series will be ripped a new one once the 9 series comes out shortly
