I sold my old comp for 500...Bought this base system for 750, sold the processor for 100, bought a new processor, and 2 more gigs of ram, and fan/fan control unit and now i'm at 1000 total....

I had a 7950GX2 in my old machine, that I put in the new machine, then XFX warranteed it out for a 8800GTS 640mb.

I'm thinking about getting a pelt for the cpu. So I'm going to need some beefy cooling for the hot side of the tec. If not ill add my gpu to the loop too.

Got it. Reason I ask is, just received my PA120.3 today - it is freakin' HUGE!

Not quite sure it's gonna fit on my Alienware m9700 notebook.

I think this is going to be my monitor for this build. 28" @ $669

Costco, has it for $599, I've just never really heard of them. I've worked with newegg for years and trust them.

Anyone done any business with Costco?

Costco is a good company. I don't belong because I just don't usually have a lot to save by buying there, I thought about joining earlier to get a westy 37" WUXGA HDTV for $699 but decided against it

They charge a 5% surcharge, for non-members. Which would still be cheaper than Newegg..

hmmmm, choices... choices...

Thanks for the comments Sol and pd.

Have seen some good reviews on that Viewsonic ... and at half the price of the 27" Dell 2707WFP, it's hard to argue with it!

Be warned though. HDMI to DVI doesn't give you the full potential for your LCD. My LCD is capable of 1388x766 or some random number like that and if I use a VGA cable I get that and have more control over the picture threw the TV and my PC. But if I use the HDMI to DVI cable I am locked in at 1280x720 and there is over scan. No way of fixing it easily threw the tv because the HDMI inputs are locked to that setting and do not offer the image scaling correction that the VGA port does.

Great info Darq, thanks. I'm still trying to figure out the monitor part of the build.

But this build is going to take awhile. I plan to lap the cpu hs, bow the D-Tek Fuzion water block, lap the gpu block, and paint the mobo tray black.

Hell, I'm thinking about boring out the pump for better flow and make a custom slot nozzle for the waterblock.. lol

oh mang.

Linux so its a little different and I have tried/changed all settings that come up. If you are connecting threw the HDMI ports on most TV's that I have seen it reports back either 1080 rez or 720 rez were if you go threw the VGA/DVI port you can set it to just about what ever you want like a standard LCD Monitor.
