FS: Sony VGN FS550 - some repairs needed - 150 Dollars Shipped

I'm putting this up here because I haven't been able to get around to repairing this thing. Its a great laptop but I got it from a company I was working for after an employee dropped it and shattered the hinge. The computer is working but the left hinge of the laptop is broken. (I'll post pics of later when I get home from work)

But I think based on the Specs asking for 150 Dollars for this thing is Very reasonable. It comes with a DVD burner, 15.4 inch Xbrite monitor, Single Core Centrino Processor. B/G wireless. It's a complete laptop other then 3 missing or problematic areas.

1) No Power Adaptor
2) Keyboard is missing 3 keys
3) Hinge on left is broken. (Note the hinge is broken in such that a Lid and Benzel is what needs to be replaced not the actual physical hinge)
4) No HDD
I could repair this laptop easily but I'm having a hard time justifying to repair this thing when I know I won't use it. (Read my sig )

I'll call up sony later in the afternoon get a better idea of what the replacement parts are going to cost. (So far Ebay shows that it'll cost roughly 120-150 dollars to fix) And again I'll post up images of everything later in the day.

But right now I'm willing to sell everything I have of this unit for 100 dollars Shipped, this is a great laptop for someone who is in need, but not for someone who wants a powerful gaming laptop. But the Components on this laptop alone have to be worth more then 100 dollars, so I just hope someone out there could use this more then myself.

I changed the title wording so it's clear that you're selling the notebook, not charging to repair it.

Oh 512. And the Price is reduced to 100.

Again, I'm not looking to make a profit here, I think 100 dollars for everything is fair, I just hope it gets repaired and that someone can enjoy it other then myself.

Kinda late Sorry, Posting pics in the morning.

so, did you call sony to see how much the repairs would be?..and also, would you have replace the whole LCD or just the hinge parts?..how fast is the processor?..thanks

The processor can't be any worst then a 1.73 Pentium M Centrino. If anything it's better, Sony didn't offer a lower grade processor in this notebook. In the morning I'll spend a better time of taking some quality images so you have an idea of what type of repairs need to be made and I'll call up sony and try to get an idea of what parts are going to run. But brifely going through ebay we're looking at about 150 for the parts give or take the HDD can be cheap or it can be expensive depending on what you want. If you need a copy of windows let me know I can provide a legit copy through my company.

Ok the images that everyone wanted to see lol. And yes the screen is well in tact.

Good Hinge:

Bad Hinge:

My estimates on what needs to be repaired are right on, in my next post I'll post what this computer looks like when it's fully repaired.

I already repaired one earlier, and gave the notebook to my wife.

Basically the 2 are the same notebook just that the one I'm selling comes with a DVD burner. The SCreen is Great on these notebooks, and I know that selling everything for a hundred is a steal, and it's mainly because like I said I'm not trying to make a profit here just helping out someone else who may need this stuff more then myself.

This thing sold, last night, before I even posted these images. I wasn't lying to you guys, lol. For 100 dollars this is all a steal based on components alone. I hope this thing gets rebuilt. If it doesn't get rebuilt I'll refund the 100 dollars and do it myself I suppose.

so it's gone?

Yeah It's gone, sorry I shipped it out last week, and the new owner got it yesterday. If you actually read through my for sale threads they generally sell real fast within a week and I think I always pretty much put up a very good price.
