Thread Starter
Well was time to upgrade from my ole P4 Dual Core 3ghz PC.

So I picked up the below system for $750, I thought was a pretty sweet price.

Intel Core Duo 2 E6400, Clock at 3.5 Ghz
2 GB DDR 6200 800mhz memory
Asus P5N-E SLI Mobo
7950GX2 1GB Vid Card
1 x 160GB Sata 7200 RPM Drive
3 x 80 GB Sata Raid Drives
18X DVDRW / LightScribe
Antec True 500w Power Supply
Antec 900 Case
Came with super heat sink/fan and XP Pro

Pretty nice machine hits 16,000 on 3dMark05

For Score Difference between the P4-D and the Core Duos:

CSS Vid Stres Test 1920x1200 Max Everything,
P4 Dual Core 3ghz = 105fps
Core Duo 2 e6400 = 171

Core Duo 2 e6750 @ 3.2ghz = 194.5 FPS

Avg In game Maxxed out
P4 Dual Core 3ghz = 60FPS
Core Duo 2 e6400 = 90FPS+

3dMark05
P4Dual Core 3ghz = 8100
Core Duo 2 e6400 = 16000

Alright with mild tweaking got her up to 16k 3dmarks, not to shabby for just a single 7950 video card, woohooo....Definetly worth the upgrade!

Man played some BF 2142, its nice to have everything on max and still be maintaining 99.9 FPS, and when the battle hits hard drops to about 70FPS...Just amazzzing, great job Core Duo

Very nice PC, mine cost over double yours, and it gets a lower 3dmark score, but in real life performance it remains about the same. I'd say you got a great deal though, you can upgrade to a 9800 series card and still remain at a really low price for a gaming machine.

Damn I wish i had a computer witha 1GB gPU for only $750...

You got a smoking deal with that machine! Mine (sig) cost me around 1500 at the time.

Yea shes pretty sweet, but its old technology, the core duo 2 has been out forever ....Anyways 7950gx2 has been sent to XFX for repairs, if they can't repair it, ( I think memory is going bad, due to the pixalating), they will send out a replacement of equal or better performance, so hopefully a 8800GTS 640mb or the 8800GTX 768mb, which I have the 8800gtx in it now, and i'm unimpressed compared to the 200 dollar 7950GX2.

So you're using it @ 3.5Ghz 24/7? What voltage are you using? And what temps are you getting?

Yea its 3.5 ghz 24/7, temps don't rise above 41 degrees, even during hours of game play.
What vCore / vDimm are you using?

what are you using to monitor temps, no way you are pulling 41c @ full load at those speeds. (105 degrees ) You can't even pull those temps using liquid cooling considering @3.5GHz you are running a 438 FSB On another note that's a nice looking rig

Thats a really good deal fella. If you bought all that sh1t seperate (newegg) i'm sure it would be a bit more. Maybe. I need a computer bad... give me yours?

I hear the antec 900 has bad wire management. Im waiting for the 1200 to come out, Im sure there will be a big improvement.

Really??? I was very impressed with the wiring on this case, power supply at the bottom, runs everything upward...I thought it was extremely clean...Yes I was running at 3.5ghz and hit no more then 44 degrees using PC Probe II after a few hours of gaming.

I now sit at 2.8 ghz because i'm happy with 70fps compared to 90fps lol.

Pc Probe is known to have problems reporting accurate temps. try using RMClock. (temps are usually off 9-10c) This is a known issue.
