Dell will not replace my LCD

I have a 9300 17" screen purchased in November of 2005. They said my model isnt affected and its only certain 9300s. 2 weeks ago I got 1 purple line and as of this morning I now have 2 purple lines. The rep stated I had an LG screen and its not under the current problems there having.

1. Has anyone had there lg 9300 lcd replaced
2. Is the rep correct. As I read it, it stated "any lcd"
3. HELP

Thats the link. Whenever it comes to Dell, if one rep cant help you, hang up, redial and dont stop until a rep can help you out. Its like asking your mom for money, she says no, you go to your dad. That trick

So its not all lcds in these laptops. Oh well I have no ground to stand really but I will try and see what happens in the morning.

Are you sure you have an LG screen? Sometimes what they think you have and what you really have are 2 different things... I have gone through hell getting my XPS 700 replaced because in their system it showed up as an XPS 710.

If you have an Nvidia graphics card, then you can simply go to device manager...

- Expand Monitors
- Double click Generic PnP Monitor (or whatever yours says...)
- Go to the details tab
- Under property change the dropdown to "Hardware Ids"

- If its listed as LPL0000, its an LG monitor
- SHPxxxx is a Sharp screen
- SECxxxx indicates a Samsung model (not desireable)

If you have an ATI video card, the only thing you can do is tear the bezel apart and look at the back of the screen itself. ATI cards can't read the same EDID info from the display as the NV cards can...

A while back I think I remember a program that would tell you the model of the screen.

I guess thats Dell's call. The Sammies are the one's I have heard of failing most often. Keep pestering Dell, you may get somewhere with them if you are persistant enough... good luck!

My LG had this problem. I never called Dell because my company paid for the replacement screen which I installed myself.

You could always very politely talk to the DellCA that browses this forum. They haven't posted in a while but I don't think they've left us.
