HUGEEEEEEEEEE problem with SENTia

i was having a few problems with the systems preformance..it was very slow..anti spyware, virus and registry erpairs werent working anymore..i decided to back everything up and format the HHD and reinstall the OS..so what happens..all of a sudden the system shuts off whenever it wants to..sometimes 3 minutes sometimes 10 minutes..never a second more then that ..from what i know about laptops, especially AW, i asummed it was either a fan/ overheating problem or a motherboard ( which i hope not)..but when booted on the fan does not spin..can that be the reason..the computer doesnt even stay on long enough for the OS to be installed..any feedback would be more then helpful, i usually deal with my own computer problems, but thought i'd ask you guys before i take it to a tech..freakin geeksquad wants 125 bucks just to look at it and tell me what the problem is..wowwww

forgot to mention, this is the smaller sentia, the 12 inch version

You're dead on. Mobo or overheating, most likely the motherboard given the random shut downs. Apparently it is a common sentia problem.

so what do i do now.....this damn system cost me almost 3K ( including personal ugrades) any suggestions fellas? anything if i sell this thing for parts i probably wont even get 300..i see how must they go for on ebay

Are you still under warranty? (I'm assuming not.) Let's see if some other Sentia members don't drop by in the next few days. They would be able to help you out, and possibly point you in the direction of replacement parts.

awesome thanks..yeah warrenty is over, AW tech support is so anal, they refuse to help man, im telling them i'll buy another warrenty, they refused to say anything unless i pay 69 bucks for that one time tech session..unbelievable

had same problem.. sent it in to them, they replaced a fan on the chassis and gave me a new battery

i also have the 12 inch version

luckily i still have a year on my warranty (3 years)

ALWAYS buy the best warranty when buying a laptop

i know i know..you always regret not buying a extended warrenty when something like this happens. but again im still asking around..50% of folks are telling it its the fan, the other 50% are telling me its the motherboard..im trying to figure it out myself, i mean some computer techs are scammers..if i describe the problem to them, they'll most luckly tell me its the mobo, or whatever else as long as its expensive..the fan is a cheap fix..ohhh man and on top of all that, my stupid f***cking retarded baby cousin comes over , finds a industrial size BLACK premanant marker and draws all over the computer, haha thanks again guys

it may be a fan and battery problem..

mine was shutting off when they replaced the new fans... then they sent me a new battery and its fine now

they wont talk to you because you're out of warranty. ask them for a new fan and battery. granted, you have to install it yourself...but its a lot cheaper than paying for a new mobo.

I had a uniwill 223ii0 which is the same thing as the Sentia. This sounds like the same problem i had, system would cut off after a few minutes of using.

Quick question does it do the same thing when its plugged with the charger? If not then I'm betting and 99% sure its the battery, I had same problem and bought a new battery and worked with no problem,

Also to let you know I eventually had to buy a replacement (found a mint condition Sentia on eBay) because the Uniwill version went completely dead, I couldn't charge it so I dunno if that problem was related to this or a warning that the system might go dead but I hope your sentia doesnt end up like my Uniwill.

Another question for you how did the WiFi work for you? Good or Crummy?

its not the battery at all, i know how quickly laptop batteries die out, so when im home i always remove the battery and power the system through the power adaptor only..the wifi is actually decent..i never had any problems with it

Well, we've all cried our hearts out and begged for help.

I just got my Sentia223 back from the mother ship (3rd time). They got most of the problems fixed....except for the battery (not charging)!

I also noticed the notebook shutting down by itself on several occasions.

So again, I have to get a new battery to really try it. See, I already have two batterries in my drawer. This third battery should better be it!

cheers!

If it happens when it is connected to the charger, then it seems to be overheating, we suggest to clean out the fans and vents with a can of compressed air, see/monitor if the fan does not spin at all as it could be the issue causing the system to shutdown.

If you need a new battery, here is a link where you can purchase one from a 3rd party vendor. In the event you need to purchase a new fan, you can get one from these vendors: Laptoprepairpart or RJtech

Hope this helps, let us know.
