Is the M1330 worth the wait?

Hi there- I spilled Orange Juice on my Apple macbook pro recently and up until now it has worked okish... but think it has finally given in- there is no way I'm going to go with Apple again; I've had such bad experience with them- and so far Dell have been awesome with my XPS M1710

Anyway I start college again on Thursday; but I could get away without it for a month or so; either using my M1710 or my dad's sony if the M1710 is too heavy/bulky lol

I was just wondering if you guys reckon this laptop really is worth the wait- it's either the Dell M1330 or a Sony Vaio... but I really want the Dell lol

Is it a definite that I will have to wait 6 weeks or does it depend on the spec you order... do some options take longer than others?

I would be wanting the smaller screen with the 0.3MP camera; is this in short supply

I'll phone up on Monday if I've decided by then- and will ask them what they reckon...

Are some people lucky and get their's quicker and other just unlucky who have to wait longer...?

Just wanted some general opinions...

Would be very grateful for any any help

Thanks for reading

Well, I orderd on 8/14 and will have it in my hands by 9/6.

That's not that bad of a wait, IMO.

Thats a pretty awesome delivery time sleey0,compared to what some people say they have been waiting.
On my local site, they have estimates from 3-6 weeks, and I hear if you don't want the WLED screen or the crimson colour, you should get it much quicker.
To me,a large part of the appeal of this model is the WLED screen, not that I've actually seen one yet in person to comment, but thinner, brighter, better battery life has got to be a good thing .

Mine was delivered last week but, unfortunately, I'll be overseas for another month so it is sitting in my office. But when they couldn't deliver it in the original 2 weeks they quoted, I got a call saying that if I was happy to go with the standard screen [not the WLED], I would get it in time. So it is most likely that the delay is still with the thin screens. But I got mine in about 30 days all-up, despite their revised estimate of 5-6 weeks on top of the 10 days that had already elapsed when they first called me. SO their 6 week quote is probably a worst-case scenario.

FYI, the lead times have gone down considerably. I placed my order on 8/26 for a M1330 with an LED Screen, and it shipped on 9/2.

That sounds better. As soon as I get a few personal reviews from you guys, I'll order it myself. I also need a desktop replacement, but I'm not sure anymore if I should get the M1710 replacement, the M1730.

I do all I can not to buy anything branded by sony. Everything Sony I have ever owned has always STB. DVD Players, PS2, Cd players, Car Cd Players, Amps and a Home Theater Receiver all have STB. Sony is overpriced your paying for the name. And it is all crap equipment. Go with the Dell

A few weeks ago, I was trying to decide between a Sony Vaio SZ, a MacBook Pro, or a Dell M1330.

Get the Dell M1330. Get the 8400GM. Get the LED-backlit screen. This laptop is seriously hot sex.
