Building a PC from scratch

Thread Starter
I am building a pc from scratch as my title suggests:
I need some advice on some parts and configs.

1) Case: Are their any good companies for cases other than kingwin (I am looking at the Kingwin K-11)? I want companies that do similar products and similar quality or even better

2) Power Supply: Any other good companies other than Antec?

3) TV Tuner: I want to be able to watch good tv quality and to record it easily. I also want a PIP feature and to keep a tv window open while I do something else. Now for these needs do I really have to get the Hauppuage? Are the Asus and MSI tv tuners any good?

4) Whats the difference between Creative SB Audigy2 ZS Platinum and Creative SB Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro ? I checked out their site they practically copied the specs from both products and they are exactly the same.

5) Do I need a cooler for very high end products (P4 3.4, Radeon 9800 XT)?
The case already has four fans and the supply has also one fan I think.

Thanks a lot.

1. Lian li cases are great. Love them. I got both a kingwin and a lian li. big thing is get a removable mobo tray. It is totally worth it.

2. Fortron, Sparkle, and Enermax also make good PS's.

3. If you got $$ I would go with a 9600 AIW XT. Or spend a little more and get a 9800 Pro AIW. AIW is the way to go. If not one of these, hauppuage is the best. If you're going to blow a wad for a 3.4 and a 9800 XT so get the best.

4, Uhm, you got me there, but there are good sound cards that are quite reasonable, and the onboard variety depending on the mobo ain't bad.

5. You want at least 2 intake and 2 exhaust. The system will stay cooler that way.

Just my two cents...

if you want some good cases check out www.xoxide.com They sell some great stuff. As for the Lian li cases, they are really well built and sturdy as hell. Also, they are nice looking and good for modding. However, kind of expensive. I've got 2 xoxide cases and got a XTurbine comming in the mail. I love their designs and style. As for power supply, that is one thing you shouldn't skimp on. In my experience, Sparkle makes the best. Just make sure you don't get a generic one, cause it that thing goes, it could take your system with it. The removable mobo tray is really usefull, but not necessary. Just look around, and find a case you like.

Thank you a lot for your replies. As for the tv tuner, the hauppuage isnt available for me. So I am forced between the Asus TV FM Tuner and MSI TV@nywhere Master, which is better?

AWSOME CASE!!!!! MOVE OVER LIAN-LI !!!!!!

You need atleast water cooling if you really want a high end pc.

Check www.dangerden.com

Check www.extremeoverclocking.com

and maybe even www.frozencpu.com

Post the entire list of parts you are going to use. That will make it easier for us to help you. Don't go with an ATI AIW card. Everytime you want to upgrade your video card you'll be stuck with buying the more expensive AIW. Why can't you access the hauppuage. Go to this site for your parts if you live in USA.

www.newegg.com

Newegg is your friend.

I've heard the Asus card is good, but I haven't researched Tuner cards much.
