Dell XPS M1730 slips to September 21st - Page 2

Machina: It's not software that supports SLi SLi works weather or not a game has been geared towards it. All that SLi does is split the rendering job between two video cards. It's not a software trick. The only thing nVidia had to do was determine which SLi rendering method to use for a specific game. If they don't have a profile for it, you can make your own. Basically you choose either Alternate Frame Rendering or split frame rendering.

Dell didn't make what I wanted either,big deal,its only a laptop....move on.
I figured I would quote you this time since you deleted the last post in the other thread where you attacked me personally lol... yes I started a poll to see what people thought of the design overall. The poll results speak for themselves don't you think? If you don't care about the looks or what people say about it, why in the world are you attacking me on the point lol? Come on now.. What am I going to achieve you might ask? Well in the short term there is usually little gain, however in the long run market research could have the potential to get the next generation redesigned in a more appealing fashion.... If people do not speak up, nothing changes... As far as Solapathys's expectations are concerned? -that's not your concern! And I have owned a plethora of laptops by Dell & I am excersising my right as a paying customer to comment as I please

Bah! You should know by now that here at NBF that is not often the case! The motto here here "if you have nothing good to say, don't say it" I thought the way you did too, but I was dead wrong Now, in all fairness to the primary concern here, I agree with you 100%. Showing dissatisfaction is the only way the producer will ever know of their flaws, and the only way buyers will know of product's problems. I think this forum needs a bit of renovation when it comes for this because it's as if you are plainly not allowed to point out flaws with products hosted on here to buyers as if all the people here are fricken sales reps getting commission. I think every single user should be able to speak his opinion on the matter of a purchase for people to get as many different views as possible so that they can pick without having blind spots. I remember back in the day when I was buying my new laptop (the first on this forum) I got the i6000 for about $1300 and luckily members pointed out that my decision was stupid and for the same price I could've gotten a i9300 for the same price with a $750 off coupon. I thank those members for calling me stupid! I got a far better machine for the same price. However as it turns out the people around here just don't want that to happen for some reason. The word "flaming" or "trolling" is too lightly used around here and seems quite interchangeable with "saying something bad about something else" Sounds like restricted freedom of speech Sorta like a police officer arresting me for saying "you know, you GMC truck is by far less durable than that Honda over there" Anyway, only a matter of time until I get scolded for saying this

man I hope they change the design, although the second pics are better than the first, the laptop is still ugly.
I think they should remove that dell logo from the center if the lid, its very ugly, instead put the XPS logo with lights coming from it. The dell logo in the front is fine.

I think that would be a good idea...but Dell wouldn't want it. Not good enough advertising.

Attacked you personally,OK,yeah,I climbed through the fibre optics and attacked you personally.......did it hurt? BTW,go and have a look,I've put what I could remember back in that thread with a couple of additions.

Your poll, yes its a resounding blow for Dell to have 100 or so people vote on its looks (of which roughly a third were not that bothered)on an ethusiast forum where users tend to have pretty fixed ideas on what they like, and as history has shown, tend to be very critical of any new model until they get some good pictures and samples reviewed.

I would hardly say I'm "attacking" you on this, just pointing out that the looks were important enough for YOU to start a poll on them.
I don't have any problem with people stating their opinions, like you,I think it leads to better products and changes, but at this point there is no point going on and on about it as its not going to change anything now.
Love it or hate it,thats the way it is.

As far as your expectations are concerned,I was genuinely interested to know what you think Dell should do given the hardware they have available to them at the moment, and I thought with you being the all knowing, all seeing eye that you are, might have some clever solution to the possible performance problems some of you think its going to have....but no,all I got was a lame "its not your concern".

Yes,I do have a real problem with you,I think you are a pompous ass who is negative about everything unless it is something you own or have done.

Sorry pdonket, but can't do that until the holyer than thou attitude calms down and he treats other people as valued members who have as much worth as he thinks he does himself, and I have refrained and watched from the sidelines as he shamelessly self promotes himself as some sort of computer demigod, while correcting peoples grammar, accusing people of misquoting and editing his posts like its some sort of conspiracy against him and generally being dismissive of a lot of people like they are second rate users....its the way it comes accross,I'm not the only one to notice.

I don't really care if I'm banned, its just a forum,I come here to enjoy the place, not to listen to smartass's trying to get oneupmanship over everybody, even if they do temper this with a lot of good advise.

Peace

Holier than thou? Perhaps you should take a gander in the mirror for a refresher course in humility. You have repeatedly used profanity in reference to me in several threads. That is anything but professional behavior. All of my posts have been to the point & based in facts or observations that are legitimate concerns.

You are the only one that has remained thoroughly unprofessional. I went as far as to send you a PM to nip this in the bud, but you just continue to make rude & unsubstantiated comments both about myself & my family relationship.

Everyone on this forum has a right to offer their opinion as long as it remains at least semi professional. Nowhere in any of my almost 3,000 posts will you find me perpetrating personal attacks on other members. I have done my fair share of offering advice, reviews, and information on these forums to the benefit of users on this site.

If you want to host a flame-a-thon send me a PM & flame me all you want, but please keep the personal attacks out of the forums, all they do is damage your reputation & insure no one takes you seriously.

...I'm not going to bother responding to the accusations in your post, as they are unsubstantiated & have no basis in fact.
