Hey Guys,

Last night on my dell XPS 2 systems my son picked up the laptop and the battery was so hot in burned is hand and he dropped on the tile floor. I have Dell CC what do you think they will do for me. I leave for Israel on the 12th of sept.

Any input on what they might do.

Firstly is your son ok?
Second I bet if you phone up Dell XPS- tell them your son burned himself trying to pick up the laptop I'm sure they'll be there the next business day- I'm pretty sure that's the service they offer; and will probs replace it there and then; if not will get one to you ASAP; XPS are usually awesome service... Hope that helps some. Best bet really is just to phone them up and ask; but make sure you phone the XPS service line (unless your fluent in Indian)

My son is ok but i pissed because i called Tech support last night and he said it was the way my son was using the laptop that was making the battery over heat. But he just turned in on and went to move it and it burned him. It is only red scared him more then anything but it just makes me mad

They will most likely try to send out a tech to verify the issue & have you return the machine to the depot. At that point they will asses the damage & probably send out a 1710.

Did you check your battery against the recall list? Sounds like that battery may be suspect. The batteries in my D820 get warm, but not so hot to make skin turn red. I'm pretty hot/cold sensitive in my fingers (have to wear gloves when I work on my truck) and I can handle my Laptop just fine after it's been on a long while.

I burnt my hand on the bottom of my XPS Gen2 nearly a year ago.

I phoned the XPS Helpline and they sent me a new M1710 no questions asked. It was there within a week and they provided me with free shipping so I could take my time sending back my Gen2...

Any battery that gets hot enough to burn someone is a problem I would have thought with CC they would respond very quickly. I suggest you go back to them a.s.a.p - I have no warranty on my E1705 yet was impressed with the response when I replaced my keyboard with many calls making sure I was happy.
