iWeb -08 Problem

Thread Starter
After installing iWeb '08 and doing a Domain conversion (there's now a file called Domain in my User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder), I found that iWeb created a whole new website instead of updating the one I created with iWeb 06. The new site has a slightly different URL and...most annoying...looks ugly. There are now black rectangles around all non-rectangular shapes. Take a look at this before and after comparison:

This is how one of my pages, created with iWeb '06, is supposed to look:
http://web.mac.com/pweisz/iWeb/Peter...ideoVault.html

Here's how the new page looks after I tried to add an element with iWeb '08:
http://web.mac.com/pweisz/PetersPort...ideoVault.html

You will note that the new '08 URL is missing one directory level (iWeb) compared to the original iWeb '06 URL.

Obviously I would like to be able to update my existing site, created by iWeb '06, using iWeb '08 rather than having two different sites. I would also like to know how to get rid of those ugly black rectangles.

I use this site professionally for my business, so I would be very grateful for any prompt assistance anyone could offer.

Thank you,

I don't think many people here use iWeb. You might have better luck on the discussion boards at Apple.com

One thing I can think of is: have you downloaded the latest iWeb update? (I'm pretty sure iWeb was updated). When I first installed iPhoto 08 one of my book projects was screwy but after the update it worked fine.

I have posted this problem at Apple Forums and have received 55 views but no responses. I have downloaded the latest iWeb update. That did not help matters at all. I also forgot to mention that there are no drop shadows anymore throughout the entire site.
The Apple Forums are flooded with iWeb 08 problems. Lots of people reporting that their o6 created sites were trashed by iWeb 08. At least I still have my old site, I just have no way of updating it unless I uninstall iWeb '08 and reinstall iWeb '06...which is what I plan to do if I can't get this resolved pretty quickly.
Thanks for your assistance.

I see drop shadows. The major thing is that the transparency of the CD images seems to be screwed up.

Did you create the alpha masks yourself or did iWeb do it originally?
