Hi, the Precision 6300 is out in Norway, but only with the FX 1600 graphics option yet.

But you can opt for the x7900 extreme cpu

Norway... not the first place I think of when I think "large market for new Precision laptops"

Maybe it's just a time-zone thing, and the rest of the world will be updated shortly...

How much is the retail compared to M90?

Just noticed a Precision 4300 on Dell Canada's Site

EDIT: It's also up on the dell.fr site, and their pricing is in EUROs, so that might be a better indication of the cost in CDN / US dollars (I don't know how volatile the Norwegian Kroner is!)

http://premierconfigure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?cs=RC1077983&customer_id=RC1077983&oc=WM63001&~tgt=global_cfg&c=FR&l=f r&s=PAD

and if you like your PC configuration websites in English:

http://premierconfigure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?cs=RC1050265&customer_id=RC1050265&oc=WM63001&~tgt=global_cfg&c=UK&l=e n&s=PAD

Its now available on the US site but not the CDN site. Dammit.

This just popped up on US site, and boy it's CPU's are expensive!!!

They are also charging 120GB to 160GB HD upgrade for 300 bucks.... insane.

Until a decent graphics option is available, I'd save your money and get the M90. Unless you need (slow) DX10 features today.

Here's a small summary of the new system. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=8664

That's been there for quite a while, now (weeks at least... if memory serves).

Still no sign of the 6300, although the main page now says "call for latest prices" (and yet, you can still price them all out in the configuration section)...

At least they have some reading material on it:

Hehe, belive it or not but Norway is a high tech country and we usually get all the new hardware pretty fast. We are a oil nation so we probably can afford it ...The norveigian krones are pretty stable.... but enough about Norway..

Yes I am waiting for the quadro fx 3600 cards that you can get as a option later, but when you do this could well be the new xps1730 option for those of us that dont like the new design on tje xps 1730.

Btw tests indicates that Quadro fx 1600 is equal to Geforse m8700gt ....

Hmm, that laptop looks just like the old Inspirons (silver ones you know)

And since it has a DX10 card, this will maybe mean that we'll be able to fit a DX10 card into a E1705 or whatever also?

Well probably not, because this laptop uses the santa rosa chipset. Graphics card typically havent been compatible over different notebook chipsets.

However what interests me is will the motherboard be able to be mounted in a 9400 chassis? Might be a cheap way of going santa rosa + DX10 while keeping your case, screen, hdd and ram.

me 3 here's a link on more info on the m6300: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3924 btw, they've removed the sub-woofer. Is dell purposefully removing all I like about their 17" laptops? Soon the only dells with them will be the m1730 and m2010, which are both huge. Also, it seems Media Direct is gone, which i guess is good coz it sucks, but it would've been nice to reprogram it to boot a linux os.

Why the heck are they charging 140 bucks extra for the DVD-RW drive??
So people who thinks new stuff are better will pay about 4-5k for an average machine.

Yeah the M90 was a pretty sweet machine to use, especially with linux. One button to boot one OS, another to boot a different OS. Couple that with the middle click on the touchpad and I'm sold.
