IBM/Lenovo Accidental Damage Warranty ?

Thread Starter
I was picking up my Z61 the other day when I accidentally knocked coffee over onto the laptop. It was in extremely bad shape. I figured I would wait a couple days, let it dry out - pulled battery/plug, etc. out.

Tried to turn it on and it was a no go.

I called up IBM and they had it picked up by DHL.

I checked the status today and its on a customer hold so they can see if they can repair it.

The rep I spoke to implied that if it couldn't be fixed, they would ship it back to me as is.

I *do* have the accidental damage warranty. Will they repair/replace it or will I be stuck if they can't repair it?

Call them up and inform the that you have accidental damage warranty. If it isn't covered by your warranty I would be curious what the accidental warranty covers.

If you bought the Protection Service, it should cover everything. This is their claim from the web site.

"ThinkPad Protection Services and warranty service upgrades help protect your product purchase in case of accidental damages, such as drops or falls, liquid spills and LCD damage. Include a warranty service upgrade with your protection service and gain peace of mind by proactively avoiding potential costly repairs down the road."
