I have 2 Toshiba Laptops purchased about a year and a half apart. Basically they have a lot of similarities. I have Verizon DSL wireless on each and when sitting next to each other the newer Toshiba Tablet loses speed. They both start at about 54 Mbps. The older Laptop keeps steady. The newer may drop down to 2Mbps in no time. The only way to restore it is to turn connectivity off and back on. Actually I use the REPAIR option. Any suggestions why this might be so? Can't blame Verizon because they are both hooked up to the same source. Thanks!

They both are XP. The one that loses BROADBAND SPEED is the faster processor and more ram. I know the configuration might be the source, but that's what I'm asking. Where are the configurations that relate to wireless broadband speed that I might compare those stats on each laptop, and if there might be an typical culprit that might cause the slowdown in BROADBAND SPEED not the speed of the computer. Thanks for your reply?

Sounds like a physical wi-fi antenna issue with one of the laptops.
Do both laptops have built-in wi-fi or are they (or is just one) using a wi-fi PC-Card?
A laptop with built-in wi-fi will generally have two wi-fi antennas located in the lid assembly sandwiched in between the LCD and the lid cover. So what happens if one laptop is turned so that its lid sit like 90ยบ from the other laptop's lid?
What about the location of your wireless router from the laptops--is it located in an other room where radio interference could be a possibility?
The only other remedy I can see short of springing for in-warranty service (if this applies) is to either keep both laptops physically separated a short distance or run them off wired ethernet with their wi-fi switched off.
