I have heard of plenty of instances where if a person bought a machine very close to when Apple updates, they will replace it for a nominal charge. In fact, a friend of mine got a Core Duo MacBook 10 days before they updated to Core 2... I do not remember exactly how much if any he had to pay, but i was surprised at how little it was, and now he has a Core 2 Duo.
So, don't get me started on your ignorance about business practices.

Thank you. You saved me from having to take the time to say all this myself.
And let me just add that I think everyone who bought an iPhone and are now bitching about the price drop should be kicked in the shin. Apple doesn't owe you jack shit unless you bought your iPhone within the last 14 days.
I bet two to one they only offered this 100 dollar rebate to stave off a class action lawsuit...which will *still* probably happen. I mean, god forbid people should have to pay 599 for an iPhone when you can get it now for 399! I bought my PowerBook three years ago and Apple went and replaced it with some new intel core thingy...well, damnit, I deserve a new laptop!
