ahhh... stuff must match

I ordered the iTouch iPod because it was a very nice match to my Blackberry 8800

(on the serious side, eta for the iTouch ordered from the Apple website is Oct 2-3)

Shit...they'll probably move the date up in a week or so.

all this hustle with the iphones getting a drop in price. (that and the addicting world of txt msgs) has compelled me to grab an 8gb iPhone. And to think I said the were overhyped

So... After several years of faithful service my IPAQ 4705 has finally kicked the bucket. Was a beautiful machine... Death by 3 year old.

So now I am in need of a datebook that can sync with my computer and now that I have gone gone Mac I am looking for Mac compatible stuff. Well I never got my IPAQ fully working with my MBP so I kept my VM-XP setup for it. Well now I wish to have something compatible with a Mac and I see just about absolutely nothing natively compatible among the PDA manufacturers I would buy from.

And after talking with ATT they will be more than happy to sell me a phone but it will not work in my area. So bummer there. Next option is an iPod Touch. What my IPAQ did was Datebook, Video/Games and spreadsheets for most common use. So far the Ipod Touch can do atleast 2 out of 3 things for that. I am waiting to see some more indepth reviews to see how much of a PDA the touch can be but I have never really been one to buy portable music players.

And the IPAQ 4705 was a wonderful machine. It survived much during its life. A trip down some stairs. A tour through a washing machine. It even survived a trip from Maryland to California when I moved. But a 3 year old child proved to be to much. RIP IPAQ, you will be missed.

i look forward to seeing a future review of the touch with an arse load of pics

heh. My old 1st gen Nano had been giving me a few glitches in the last few months. Nothing major, but the replacement plan was soon to expire and when the new Nanos were released I sprung on the chance to get it replaced. I got the green one. It's cooooool. :-)

My girlfriend got a new video nano a week ago, she sent it back the same day. I guess she forgot how much she hates itunes.. Even though I reminded her that she sold her old nano she got for free. lol
post #33 of 38
so, she had a nano, that she used and obviously had to use iTunes to manage it w/ all the features, and then sold the nano, to get a new one which also has to use iTunes to be managed (linux is the exception? i dunno) natively. and, her reason for returning it was because she had gotten so unfamiliar w/ iTunes from the time she sold the last one to getting the new one?

alrighty then...
Uh?

She and I hate itunes, she didn't like the new video nano. She wasn't unfamiliar with it, she hated the video nano.

but yeah, I like the way you worded that response... triadone.

=)

Why do you hate iTunes? I can get if it isn't your cup of tea... but hate? That is an awfully strong word usually reserved for Nazis, aliens, and trilobites

I tried to put a video on it... I had to convert it into a format it liked, then had itunes convert it to the format it used or something.

I just never liked the fact that, it has to be a certain format, before itunes would "convert" it to the format it used to play with.

I bought a samsung kp-k3 and it's just drag and drop, with no converting or special formats.

* shrugs *

I guess I dislike itunes, I like the design and features of the ipod touch though.
Yea, the converting thing annoys me sometimes too. But, on the other hand, I personally have started choosing h264 mp4 as my video file of choice due to its better quality (to my eyes) and iTunes plays nice with that.

GBQ and i are on the same page... itunes tries to be simple and idiotproof so hard that is it is actually difficult and confusing. not to mention redundant which is annoying. drag and drop is the only way to go.
