No I mean the Cool image is face down towards bottom of case, my board isn't upside down lol.
No, he means as almost every board has it, the label is face down in the case.
Oh right. I was going to say that regardless of the GPU image on the card, that preferably I prefer heat rising much better than heat blowing down, especially in my Antec case with the PSU on the bottom side.

Rockin I hope you wait for new hardware.....can't get much better than what you currently have.

I made the mistake of not doing that. My QX6700 cost over $1100.

I would not suggest an Ultra unless you get the MSI 8800 Ultra (same one I have) It's inexpensive compared to the others & performs quite well with a pretty good OC.

Otherwise I'd just grab a GTX because you can get really good performance out of those.

As far as DLP... Meh I have a samsung 42" DLP in my living room...I love it... I look at it this way, by the time the 4th year rolls around & I actually need to replace the bulb I'll have a new TV there anyways.

Not to mention I would expect bulb prices to drop considerably by then...

I got the GTX. It scores over 13K in 3dmark06.

when is this new hardware coming out? If its not in the next week and I sell i'd have to buy a system. Plus I can't afford new hardware lol when it first comes out.

New nVidia cards MIGHT be out in Nov--Dec, still don't think there is any definite news.

I definitely wouldn't spend the $$ for an Ultra right now, unless you're crazy into overclocking and are interested in benchmarks. A single GTX seems to be plenty - games like Bioshock and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. run flawlessly at 1920x1200 with just one GTX.

Also ... just curious, Rockinfella, why you're using '05 instead of '06 for your benchmarking?

Cause 06 take to long, lol.

Get a cheap Evga card and step it up in 3 months..when the new cards come out.

Thats what I'm going to do.
Evga is the best company for gamers, Lifetime warranty, even when you overclock it. And their stepup program, when you buy a new card, if a new card comes out before 90 days, you can step up to the new card. All you have to pay is the difference, so you get the full price back for your old card.

I've had two Evga cards. I'm about to get their 680I mobo too.

XFX aint bad...Plus i'm not buying a evga, just don't want one its like Old Navy or Ross Dress for less to me...XFX has double lifetime warranty and they replaced my card with a newer one. Personally my favorite brand is PNY, ever since the TI4200/4600 series i've loved them. My next card will be a xfx 8800ultra, if I can sell this comp anytime soon LOL.
Evga, is not old navy.

kthanks

lol, you have alot to learn young one.

plus when I said a cheap evga, I meant the like a 8800 gts 320mb, which still costs more than the comparable XFX or pny card.

but yeah..

you go through computer crap more than anyone I've ever seen.. lol

HAHAHAH, I know get me started on upgrading and it doesn't ever end ...Something about EVGA reminds me of cheap, maybe just the name or something, I dunno.

EVGA = Economy Video Grapics Adapter? Just my thoughts lol.

In the last two weeks, i've sold 1 desktop, 2 laptops, traded out 2 processors and 3 video cards...WOOT WOOT!

Yeah but here is the difference, as you can see it's not the GPU giving you that 13k Your Test- 3DMark Score 13124 3DMarksSM 2.0 Score 5396 Marks SM 3.0 Score 5459 Marks CPU Score 4427 Marks My test: 3DMark Score13635 3DMarks SM 2.0 Score 6249 Marks SM 3.0 Score 6067 Marks CPU Score 3310 Marks http://service.futuremark.com/orb/re...0&UID=10805970 If I dropped a QC in mine I would probably rate around 15K I imagine. I just can't see any reason to plop one in though, I mean considering if you look at either of our results we are in the top 1% of all systems tested... I mean our systems can't be that bad, right?

EVGA is one of the most respected video card brands out there....XFX has worse reputation that I've found than EVGA by far. I think you are short changing them due to their name....when you probably shouldn't. You buying a card for $500 now is just not very smart with the 9 series right around the corner...

Ehhh good point donket, maybe i'll hold off then if I sell this comp. Liked your 7900 review, makes me think twice about going 8800 and may just wait for a 9800 top of line.

Got the quad core in...F'ing disaster...I dunno what the install problem was. I put in processor try to give her a boot and nothing...Changed all the sata cables around, nothing, unplugged h/ddrives and nothing...I was like WTF is going on its as if the motherboard is fault and not initiating...So I reseat the processor and dont' completely put on heatsink, not so smart, it does boot after about 10 trys and then I see temp at 53/54/55/56/57, so I shut it down and then secure heatsink(using artic 5 silver). So anyway get her booting...Do some mild overclocking, its just like the motherboard doesn't initiate the bios or something, I DUNNO...Had it at 3.04ghz no issues, nice and idle about 35c. However I just put everything back to stock settings until crysis comes out then i'ma jack her up to 3.4ghz and jump my GTS up about 50mhz so I can try and run max settings on this quad core...

This thing had better have been worth the hassle, crysis better utalize all these cores.
I have a feeling you will not be disappointed. Personally I think the cores will be under-utilized & the fact that it is a game capable of using all 4 cores is more marketing than performance...

I plan on running Crysis maxed out on my system w/o issues
