Vostro 1500 vs Inspiron 1520 - Page 2

The case on the Vostro 1500 is made by Foxconn. The Vostro has a wifi switch that allows you to turn it off or on and when the laptop is off, you can use it as a wifi locater to see if there is wireless in the area. The Vostro also has a SD/Memory stick reader on the side. Finally, the Vostro's (could just be the 9 cell) battery sticks out past the back of the laptop. I've never used a 1520, but those would be the differences that I think there is a possibly of being.

The 1520 has everything you mentioned. The 1520 and 1500 are identical in every way except for the color of the paint.

Both of my Vostro systems came with an Dell expresscard remote, is that the remote you are talking about? Its a very small remote that fits in the Expresscard slot.

My Vostro 1500 has a plastic protector, not a remote. It does of course have the IR piece though.

that's an added upgrade. I think ht was like 30-50 bucks?

I dont order the systems so I am not sure what they cost. When you look at Dell.com they appear to be $27 when you add one to the Inspiron system.

That Express Card remote isn't even made by Dell, it works via Bluetooth. I've kinda been wanting one for my D820 for when I use it in the car. (Been jonesing for media player controls that are easily accessed while behind the wheel)

The Expresscard remote that I recieved with my systems are Dell branded and they are IR not bluetooth. These are called "Dell Travel Remote Control"\\:
