"laptop plugged in, not charging"

I own a dv6500t laptop by hp. The first time I unplugged it from the charger, and then returned it, it stopped charging. It says "laptop plugged in, not charging". What is the point of that???? It seems that the battery power doesn't go down when it is plugged in, it just does not charge. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks

callibrate your battery and it will work fine, i had the same problem with my dv2535ea , it said battery 94% plugged in, not charging,
here is the solution
press F1 on your keyboard which should open windows help and support, select power and battery and there you should see how to callibrate your battery. Also you can check your battery with hp battery check

had the same prob. but only it was dell inspiron 1720. there is no calibrate , how ever you can remove the battery and adapter, and then hold power button for 10 sec. This didnot help me how ever. after four hours of searching the best i could get was either buy a new battery or a new ac adapter. Altho there was a fix for me.. after wanting to thro this "fu*kin junk" i brought it inside and notice the cord that plugs in was loose. cant be that simple right? wrong apearently not... gunk fills the "poorly designed plug" (aka round with stinger) untill stinger can no longer make an adequit conn. It aplies power to the computer, just not enough to charge. Then recieving plugged in not charging error also in bios unrecognized charger error. SOLUTION i took a bread tie folded in in half and scraped out the gunk. witch happend to be about a quarter inch... just clean down to you see the white backing and plug should fit tight and charge your battery. laptop was 9 days past possible return date, needless to say i was relieved it turned out simple
