Personally I say "about time!" as a linux user who also happens to have an ATI card in his laptop. Although my graphics card is older (9700), so the recent (as of Xorg 7.1) open source radeon drivers have been working well for me (aiglx, gaming, and all).. but people w/ newer cards are still screwed, as i was screwed the previous 2.5 yrs. Too bad that they are too late to the party because it seems that the general feeling in the community is "go nvidia" after years of neglect by the ATI folks (before AMD buyout).
