Personally I say "about time!" as a linux user who also happens to have an ATI card in his laptop. Although my graphics card is older (9700), so the recent (as of Xorg 7.1) open source radeon drivers have been working well for me (aiglx, gaming, and all).. but people w/ newer cards are still screwed, as i was screwed the previous 2.5 yrs. Too bad that they are too late to the party because it seems that the general feeling in the community is "go nvidia" after years of neglect by the ATI folks (before AMD buyout).

Call me when they open source it.

In the meantime, don't hold your breath on their claims holding up.

Still doesn't change the fact that I won't buy ATi cards. Nice that there claiming to support us but lets see what really happens long run.

Interesting read... though several things in that article make me very wary about various specifics in it. I suppose we will see in 4 days though, but that is not much time for the details of their licensing to not already be determined, something doesn't sit right there with me.

well they stopped FGLRX support for older ATI cards so now i am forced to use old ati driver from xorg.
