Hi i have a custom built HP dv6000t with vista home premium.

I want to be able to reformat the computer and just install the operating system alone. i dont want all that hp vongo, rhapsody, and all that bull crap on my computer...

is there any other way to get rid of all these bloat ware without having to reformat the computer?

and by the way, i dont know how to begin reinstalling the computer's OS alone. i have a black recovery disk from HP but thats about it.... i dont have a vista CD.

how can i go about my issue?

my methods:
. download cCleaner (free)
. use it to zap out all uneeded startup processes (research them before deciding to zap them)
. disable disk indexing
. get urself a free virus scanner (avast, avg)
. leave the firewall to vista and defender for now

u should see a big performance boost from this already. leave vista alone for a few days and u also see more improvements

cheers ...

cCleaner will wipe out all unwanted started up stuff... but what about unwanted bloatware such as VONGO (which is what i want to remove). and what is disk indexing? what good is it and if i disable it, what will happen?

cCleaner has a software removal option and clean the registry afterward. Or just use windows add/remove programme
