My laptop charger/battery is beeping?!

I have an Asus S96J, and I was on it a second ago and noticed the battery icon displayed in the toolbar, yet my laptop was plugged in.. (What exactly is it, a charger, or a battery ? Its the big block i plug into the wall and connects to my laptop.. sorry that im not up on these terms, im probably confusing).. I put my ear to the main piece, the big black block, and it was beeping. Is it busted?

And where can i find a replacement or universe one for cheap, and fast?! I cant have this happen now

edit, its my AC adapter correct?

many electronic stores carry many laptop adapter types. just make sure that it has the same output (voltage, amperage and wattage) as ur orignal one

for output amperage & wattage, it is ok to use one with larger ouput. but i do not recommend messing around with voltage

Ive got no idea about ASUS model numbers, so im not sure if these guys can help, but ive used them in the past and theyre well quick to deliver.
