By the way related question to the above. My current MB has two PCI-E x16 slots, though at the moment I can only use one as I only have a single CPU in there. It also has a single x1 slot, and a variety of PCI-X slots. I am trying to decide what the best way for me to invest in a controller card is, as obviously when I upgrade I want to be able to take it with me. I had planned on poping another GPU in the second x16 slot since i am doing game development but for the moment I suppose it is open, and useable once I get another CPU in it(And replace my now dead one

So what is the consensus for PCI* based controller cards? What is the best way to go for being able to continue to use it in the future? I am most likely sticking with 3Com as a brand due to a strong reputation(Except apparently on their PCI-E x1 card) and strong Linux support from what I have heard.
