I haven't found anyone describing this same problem, so sorry if I just missed it...
My dv9000t which I've upgraded to vista many months ago has worked well, and I have been very careful to try to get all the relevant new drivers since the upgrade from the appropriate sites.
One problem: my mute button is very erratic. It can change when awakening from hibernation, when I'm using the computer, or when it is not hibernating and I'm not using it. Sometimes it works fine and is blue for volume and orange for mute. Other times it flashes on its own to show both blue and orange (looks pink/purple), other time it locks into that pink/purple. Sometimes the audible beep of a button press occurs even when I'm not touching the computer. Other times the button is unlit and nonfunctional at all. Right now, for example, it double beeps when I press it and remains blue but does nothing to change the mute status.
A reboot seems to occasionally recover the button, but other times it does not. Sometimes it just gets better during a computer session on its own.
I have seen some complain of it not working, but never seen this kind of odd behavior. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
