SLOW TXN25N/Ready to toss it out the window..

I have a new Sony Viao TXN27N/B laptop and have had nothing but problems. Sony suggested I do a complete reinstall and that did not help either. It is slow, slow, slow. Five minutes or more to gt online and the same to shutdown.
What can someone suggest? I have bought a 4gb booster for it, but even that does not help.
I would love to either have this working properly or get another computer...suggestions???

Clean it out. Go to the Control Panel and get rid of the programs you don't need. Stop unnecessary processes and make sure to stop unneeded apps from firing up when you start your machine. When I clean a machine I like to follow up with CCleaner. Then RegSeeker to clean the Registry, though there are some folks who say the risk of deleting something important makes reg cleaners too dangerous - but the program works well for me.
