Sager 9800 d900t to d900c mobo upgrade

Hey guys I think its about time i upgraded my laptop. I have been researching a lot and the only option I see is swapping out the mobo of a d900t to a d900c.

Sagers case seems the same, and the amount of mods required to make it work is probably minimal. However I wanted to confirm with everyone that even with the newest bios update for the d900t (8/26/06) version 6 ( i will reboot the pc and get further data later) but i think because of hte 915 chipset the highest desktop cpu supported are the prescott series. has anyone ever tried putting in a newer gen allendale cpu or something?

But anyways I think I will try puttin in the d900c board as long as i can find a way to get my hands on one at a reasonable price. Then I know I can throw in a desktop c2d such as e6700 or so. That would be the ultimate upgrade for my 9880

Ideas, Opinions, and Tips are always welcome! Thanks!

I think D900C chassis is different from D900T so I doubt the motherboard would fit.

I had the opportunity to test a buncha CPUs in the system. All of them are no go. Does not matter. The 915 chipsets are completely incompatible with the newer 775 CPUs. I tested from Pentium Ds to Allendales to C2Ds.

Also, the mobo swap is a no go as well. They are completely different layouts. Esp when you take into consideration that the latter is designed for SLI video cards =P

Sorry guys, looks like we are all S.O.L

Now to find a barebones d900c for cheap :/
