hey all, i was wondering if there was anything i could do to make my 1.86mhz processor run faster than it does now. I have installed a fan control app to keep it cool and would really like to squeeze all the performance i can out of it.

well, aside from overclocking, there's nothing that will mske your CPU actually faster. However, by using programs like Microsoft Bootvis to increase booting speed and CCleaner to get rid of extra junk in your registry, you can make your computer run more efficiently so it seems faster.

thanks djembe, i have not used bootvis but will definitely give it a shot. I have a registry cleaner and use it regularly. I also use a boot process mananger so that quicktime and all that bs doesnt clog the pipe

Disable as many services as you can, Increase your Ram if you haven't already. Defrag your hard drive if you haven't already.

I'm typing on a i6000 w/ a 1.86Ghz P-M right now....it isn't slow IMO. What types of programs are you running? You can always pin mod the sucker to the 2.33 range. YMMV
