Alienware: the biggest piece of crap ever

So I used to come this forum a little over a two years ago now when I first got my 51m. Now its been sometime and I don't really use this laptop much. I never did. I never threw it around, I never dropped it, basically it just sat around all day with not much wear and tear from me.

As of now, one of the hinges that holds the screen in has completely just broken off. I opened my laptop screen one day and BAM, it just popped off. My screen constantly flickers because its probably going to die soon. I can't play games on it because it just turns off from what I assume is over heating. If I had known the lifespan of this $4000 monstrasity was two years, I would have never gotten one.

Overall, I hate Alienware and will do my hardest to persuade everyone who ever mentions the company to me from getting one. I hate you Alienware, I could have gotten a much better laptop for way cheaper. What a sham.

What model 51m do you have, and why didn't you get the hinge repaired when it broke?
Didnt you sell your 7700 and buy something smaller like you said you were going to do? What machine are you having problems with?
Well it doesn't really seem like you are trying to help stop the problem. With that kinda attitude nothing positive will happen. And with this kinda title, people probably aren't going to be as helpful if you phrased it a different way.

Oh boy, here we go again.

My thoughts exactly.

Why did you spend $4000 on a notebook and not get the best warranty....which I'm sure would cover this. If you do have warranty then get it fixed....notebooks break, deal with it.

Exactly! I have a 9750. I love it. It is my Precious.

That said, I picked up a 3 year warranty for when it WILL break. These high end laptops put how so much power and heat that something will give. Alienware has been around for many years, and has a solid reputation. If I have a problem, I know they will fix it. It may take time, but you can attract more flies with honey than you do vinegar.

If you're out of warranty, well then, who's fault is it?
Just my $.02 but I would have rather purchased a base version of a computer and get a full warranty versus getting the high end options and a 1 year warranty.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply I dont visit here much. I got contacted by an alienware rep and will where that goes.

As for the B.S. claim on to why I didnt use it much...well I thought I was gonna use it but when I realized it weighed twice the amount of a fetus I thought I better just dock it in my house somewhere.

I had the 51m 7700. It was great for a bit, then it started overheating, I couldn't play games or anything. The hinge recently broke like a couple months ago, I just lifted the screen up and it pooped off. I dunno why, It's jsut been sitting here on my table next to my desktop for over a year now. I use it when I play games on my desktop and thats pretty much it. I had to buy a Dell for my school / work laptop.

Also I tried selling it on ebay a bit over a year ago, tried to cut some of my losses but I got so many people wanting it shipped to Nigeria, I just thought I better hold on to it.

Explain maybe I can clear it up for you. I dont know what you mean by pork but I'd be happy to prove I have a 51m sitting right next to me with a broken hinge....

I guess we don't understand why you came here. You've never been happy with the machine (except for the "first few weeks") and now the hinge broke. You're pi$$ed and have no intentions of letting AW try and settle things the right way. You're hear to shout from the mountain tops how awful AW is: their products and service. We aren't hear to listen to it. If you want help we'll be more than happy to offer that, but I personally am tired of people signing up on this forum to come flame the 7700. I have one, and its given me issues, but I don't go around b!tching about it every breath. I should have done more research before I bought it.
