Bluetooth Situation

I bought my notebook, the Sentia m3450, about a little more than a year ago. It was supposed to have integrated bluetooth in it, which was a required option. Expecting bluetooth in my notebook, I purchased a Logitech v270 Bluetooth mouse from Alienware. When I received my notebook (several weeks late), there was no trace of the bluetooth, meaning there was no bluetooth module written on the printed order form when I received the package and no bluetooth module in the notebook itself. I called Alienware throughout the past year demanding a solution to this problem. They told me it was a manufacturing problem and that they would get back to me as soon as they found a solution. The problem went on for months until about two months ago I demanded that they send me a bluetooth module that was supposed to be in there in the first place. They sent me the module and I put it in my computer. The problem was that there was no antenna to connect it to in my motherboard in the first place. I complained to Alienware and they had me send in my computer for repairs. They told me to wait two weeks for it to arrive back in my hands. I waited until yesterday, making it four weeks, with the same notebook, except with a dead screen. The screen would not and still wont turn on, but I hear everything going. This infuriated me. I am a student and I sacrificed four weeks without a computer, three of which had been since school started. I called Alienware Tech Support and they suggested that a cord must have slipped out of the motherboard. They proposed that I send in my computer again, setting me another two weeks, or in my case, another four. I asked for them to give me a refund for my computer and they told me to call customer service on monday. I am so ridiculously pissed off at Alienware. I will get that refund. But can anyone suggest how I go about this? I want to make it so they dont take advantage of the situation and let their way go through. Do you think their decisions were right in secretly cancelling my bluetooth and trying to pretend I wouldn't notice? What should I tell them in order for me to get my refund? I have a three year warranty.

That line has been discontinued, so getting parts for folks still under warranty will prbably take a little longer than expected. I understand your frustrations but also think that Alienware should be more accurate in their times for repair.

Otherwise if there are no other problems with your machine and the waiting while sending it back and forth is killing you, why don't you just pick up a bluetooth dongle from a local store? They only cost a few bucks now....

Why would I buy something that I planned to have come with my computer? Especially since I only have three USB ports, I dont have much space to include the bluetooth dongle.

Its not just because of the bluetooth, but its all of this terrible service im receiving.

Call them and ask to speak with a supervisor directly. I find speaking with them calmly and not firing emails back and forth will do the trick. Their email support is terrible.

I'm still waiting on my Operating System disc 4 months later....everytime I send an email they say that they are dealing with the problem. I plan on calling them tomorrow...

They make great computers, I've already owned 3, but the support frame still does not seem to be working 100%.

Give 'em a call.

I called Alienware today and spent an hour going through three people telling me that my request for a refund could not be honored. They told me that I waited a year to do something about my situation. I was so furious. I asked him why he couldnt honor my refund or even consider it. He rejected it as soon as I asked him about it. I asked him to at least try it and he rejected it again. I feel so disrespected at this point. I ask him why Bluetooth was not put into my computer in the first place and he told me that it was something the manufacturer didnt include. I told him that its not my fault that they cant get their act straight. He still declined. They definitely broke some rules trying to be sneaky. I asked him why I cant get a refund if they fooled around with my order. He said that the order was given to me a year later. I was definitely ready to knock some teeth out as soon as he said this. It just furthers my point on why I shouldn't be denied a refund for having a faulty order. If i ust received the part, it just completed my order. Thats where my 30-days should start. He disgusts me and makes me think lower of Alienware Customer Support. I need some ideas. This definitely cant be legal or fair. Any suggestions?

BTW. I forget to mention the customer support manager hung up on me while I was talking.

I thought the warranty stated you had so many days - 14? - to claim or dispute a partial or wrong order. I may be wrong....

If I was you, I'd buy a USB bluetooth module. Not saying that makes this situation any better, but at least you'd have bluetooth.

BFisch06,

Not to be mean or anything, but did you read the previous posts?

You said over the past few months you'd been working on this issue. I think I wrongly assumed you didn't call right away after realizing the module wasn't there, or wasn't functioning properly. I don't think you're going to get a full refund, in fact you'll be lucky to get it and pay the 15% restocking fee. Since they don't carry the Sentia anymore I imagine it will be increasingly harder for them, or you, to find a bluetooth module for it. If that constitutes a refund on your part, I'm sorry to hear that, but good luck.

he waited over a year to do something. not within the 14 day policey. not to mention this is a sentia which hasn't been sold since may, making it obviously way above 2 weeks.
