I've had my XPS since Friday and it's been perfect so far. But I was watching Futrurama on dvd yesterday and when the animation becomes quick I notice some artifacting maybe it was ghosting I'm not sure. If anyone has watched any animation on their systems could you please let me know if this a normal occurence?

A Simpsons fan watching Futurama? This has got to be the biggest case of hypocrisy I've seen...

Why? Futurama is also a Matt Groening cartoon, and they share a very similar type of humour, though I always thought Futurama was the better of the two.... and Family Guy blows them both away.

I like Family Guy too but for lasting appeal it's the Simpson's and Futurama all the way. During the first season o Futurama I wasn't that into it but it has grown on me considerably. But you guys haven't helped with the dvd problem is anyone else out there getting these sort of artifacts and are they just a normal occurance with lcd notebooks? Because I think my old Acer did the same.

Whoops, sorry. No, I don't get this problem at all with DVD's on my i8600. What program are you using to watch the DVD's? It may be a problem with that, in which case you should try a different player or reinstall the one you are using to see if the problem persists.

Thanks for the reply sakor. I was just using the Dell media player that came with the XPS. So you have watched Futurama on dvd on your laptop? The reason I ask is I don't get the artifact with any other programs on the system. Which dvd player are you using by the way? I thought mine was supposed to come with cyberpower dvd but it is not on my system. I look through my disks to see if I have a different player, if not can you recommend one?

I haven't played futurama DVD's, but I have played many, many others without this issue. I don't like Dell Media Experience. I use Power DVD, its the best program for DVD's that I have found thus far, so maybe you should give that a try... you will need to register, but thats not a problem if *ahem* you know where to look.
