You guys play games on a JumboTron or something? Talk about overkill
post #4 of 31

I would say spending so much extra cash on the PC, would be better of spent toward graphics, 4gb ram, mutli-terabyte RAID arrangements etc
post #7 of 31
I think Terabyte Raid setups is worthless...Unless your running 5 x Raptor Drives with a Raid Controller your not gonna see a huge advantage in read/write capabilities.

8800Ultra SLI and a Q6600 OC'd to 3ghz, should be nice
post #8 of 31
i will upgrade to Quad core when AMD releases it in a few weeks
post #9 of 31
Q6600--then upgrade and sell
8800gt then upgrade and sell
ddr2 1066 or ddr3

That evga mobo is DDR2 only.

also, get the A1 version.

it's better for quad overclocking.

DDR3 is a massive waste of cash.
if you want the best, be prepared to throw money away.

obviously, I guess in a 2000+ no budget desktop build then there's no need to criticize setups

i know, after saying it I said the "i guess" in my last statement inferring that I had made a mistake being the unlimited money thread
post #17 of 31
You are however correct in your statement, that processor would be a complete waste of cash lol.

My 2000+ Build would consist of

Antec 900 Case
Gigabyte P35 DS4 MOBO
Dual 8800Ultras
4GB Ballistic Tracer memory
Windows 95 Sp1, Most stable OS ever
QX6850 Processor just because.

That thing should scream with that setup

Right now i'm close to that with q6600, I have a 7800GTX until the new 9800 series comes out

Hey GB

Is a full coverage GPU water block really nescessary or worth it

I found with my two Full Coverage water blocks the weight was so much I am having a hard time keeping the cards seated in the case.

Thinking for the new 8800GT cards of just using a GPU water block
post #20 of 31
Of course this doesn't include my cooling, which would be TEC based, which is why I am running a 1100 watt PSU.
