I8Kfan Question on 8400M GS

Sup guys,

I posted few question on this on other section of the forum, but didn't have much of response.

My question is if ATItool, and nTune GPU temp. monitor is accurate.

According to the 2 above, idle temp for the 8400M GS on my M1330 is 65C.

With I8kfan (plus 8C offset), it reads 65C - 11C = 54C.

If I8kfan is not accurate, it means I have to make the off set to 19C!!.

Does this mean I have to run the fan high all the time?

If I choose to run slow fan speed, what is the ideal speed I should make the fan to kick high?

Thanks!

The whole offset issue was just based on what the nvidia control panel reported for its temperature. I guess ntune would be accurate as well though. Anyway, I'd have the fan come on low at 55 C and come on high at about 78 C.

I decided not to use the I8kfan for M1330.

It seems like I8kfan is monitoring totally different hardware.

If I run 3dmark, ntune and ATItool shows temp going up from 65C (idle) to 8xC immediately, but I8kfan's temp changes shows only few degrees of difference (like when ATI/ntune temp is 90C, I8kfan shows 70C even after 19C offset added).

Max temp showing on ntune, and ATItool is around 95C, and I8kfan only shows peak temp was only 75C.

I researched/googled a bit, and it seems like it's common problem with all new generation cards on Dell laptops.

I hope the guy who made I8kfan fixes this soon, and I'm sticking w/ stock bios settings for now.
