Video card driver problem, or something else?

Hello all. I have lately been having a problem with what I think is my video card driver, but wanted to make sure. Basically, every once in a while when I resume my notebook from Stand By, it will come up, I type in my password, and when Windows will come up. Then, my screen will flash real quick, and the resolution automatically goes to the lowest possible settings. Its not a huge deal, but its still an annoyance since I then have to go and change it my self each time.
I have a Dell XPS m1210 on Vista if that matters. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

i also have vista on HP laptop and i have the same issue.
its bad if you have a lot of shortcuts and they all become messed up and not in order.

this was happening on 2 laptops and both were vista and both were hp and both were using drivers that came with the laptop

Simple thing to try: upgrade/change drivers, and see if the problem either changes or goes away.
