Headphone Jack Messed Up

post #1 of 7

Hey all, so a while back my headphone jack may have been pushed in too hard, or something, I'm not sure, but now when I plug anything into it sound only comes in one ear. I can remedy this with headphones by just pulling them out slightly but with speakers it creates interference. Is there anything I can do besides send this to Dell to fix it?

Unless you can do a good job soldering, your 3 options are:

1) Send it to Dell
2) Buy a pcmcia or usb soundcard
3) Buy a new mobo

If your under warranty, 1 is your best bet.
If your cheap, go with the pcmcia or usb.
3=Upgrade

I was hoping I wouldn't have to go without my computer for a while, oh well, looks like I gotta send it in then Thanks

If you can solder onto PCB's you can buy a jack from Digi-key and install it yourself on your board. But if you're under warranty your only option really is to let Dell fix it.
