I just got a Sony Vaio PCG-Z1WA used, and the person who I bought it from told me that one time when replaceing the hard drive he had lost a tiny flex cable that connected to the touch, and all I would have to do is get another one and then it would work.. So long story short.. I order one open up the laptop to find all flex cable where there nothing was missing..
But the touchpad was not working..this is what I've tried
  1. restore CD
  2. reinstalled windows xp, home
is there something else I can try...Oh I also tried with the control panel in windows as well....nothing.. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I'm no brainiac at this but make sure all cables are in its place because you never trust anyones work but your own, make sure device manager recognizes it and it has the right drivers, and I'd see if there's a sony utility driver that came stock with the laptop that maybe your missing. I had a similar problem when I reinstalled xp, pad didn't and my function keys didn't work either until I installed some of the stock drivers from sony esupport, I thought windows was supposed to dl everything for me but that wasn't the case. Hope you can use something outa this-good luck

Thanks man!! I tried downloading drives from the sony site, Also the Device Manager dosen't recognizes it.. I've tried to update the divers in the Device Manager...All the cable look hooked up all right, I even tried taking all the cables off, then puting them back and restarting but nothing... I think I need to just replace the whole touchpad.. I don't know... But thank you for your Help..
