Have a Dell e1405 (640m), looking for new battery

I have a dell e1405 laptop, thats jus over a year old. A while back, the battery started crapping out on me, and now it gives less than 10 mins of power, from a full charge.

I am looking to replace it with a 9-cell battery.

However, my problem is, I do not know where to look for the battery other than dell, and I am a little edgy about ebay, which I see only as a last resort. Any suggestions on places where I can find superior/long lasting batteries? Hopefully one that lasts more than 1 year...

Moreover, one of my friends told me about a modular battery, one that goes in the bay where the CD-Rom is. Does the e1405 support this kind of battery?

No,the 1405 doesn't support the modular bay batteries, only the latitudes and 15" precision.

I personally would just by a new one from dell,as it might be a bit risky buying one elsewhere because you probably won't have as long a warranty on it and you don't know how long its been sitting around for.

Pity you didn't contact dell about your battery before your warranty expired,it wouldn't have cost you then.

I've had good luck with eBaying batteries. I bought a 9 cell for my D820 for $64 shipped the battery works just like the original when I got it. I didn't bother trying to get a new battery out of Dell. I was charging and discharging my Battery 3 times a day for about a year.

I've bought several others for my Laptops off eBay. It's a crap shoot yes, some batteries are used and some are new. However, you pay less than half of what Dell wants.

Is it worth it goin for non-OEM batteries versus a dell battery?
