***OFFICIAL*** M1730 news thread

Over some debate recently, I think a single thread would be a good idea for news and information of the m1730 in order to eliminate multiple threads. By utilizing this single thread, individuals can find a single source for updated information on this system...

O ya, I dont think anyone knows exactly when the 1730 will be released! lol

Doubtful. The performance just isn't on par & the XPS series seem to hold their value pretty well. (my old XPS 2 still sells for around $1,000.00). In addition, most of the ppl that are interested in this new product seem to be ones that don't already own a 1710. As a 1710 owner myself the release of this machine with 2 8700 series cards doesn't interest me since it offers very little in the most important area...Performance increase... show me the game benches where it wipes the floor with the 7900/7950GTX cards & I might be interested..Of course I know that isn't happening...

This thread seems worthy of a temporary sticky until the 1730 is released.

Do you plan to update the first post, or will we have to dig through pages of discussion? (in the second case, I think it's easier to create new threads)
I am sure the 1st page will be updated with any relevant news regarding the release of the machine.

It would be easier I think to have all the info on one thread. I say this, because even if the topic thread just talks about the release date, usually other information such as specs and info is thrown in the bunch. Atleast now we can focus on one area to find all information.

it would be good is there was any news, the 1730 seems to have melted into the ground, that laptop was so ugly its probably ganna take another year to redo the design.

A little news.... I had a major Hard drive issue with my i1720 already... went through techs from Hardware support in India.... Hardware and Software tech in Canada.... Dell On-Call... and finally got my problem solved....

Through all my calls and talking to the techs I asked about the new XPS (just for conversation) and he said it has been pushed to NOVEMBER almost for sure.
