wait for quad core???

i want an amd processor in my new desktop.

I'm looking to sell my laptop and buy a desktop, should i just wait til quad core AMD comes out and goes down in price, like a year or so???

or will the dual cores be fine for now?

now, I'm looking at an AMD 64 X2 6000+

Maybe wait for Penryn (sp?), I don't know. But in the technology buisness there is always something around the corner, just buy something and be happy.

The practical difference between a "true" quad core from AMD and the quad core from Intel is negligible unless you are running benchmarks.

If you really need a quad core CPU today, I'd spend the money on a cheaper Q6600 and then upgrade in 6 months when the next tech leap frogs today's tech. Most Q6600s with decent cooling can overclock comfortable to stock QX6850 levels anyway.
