Can't use anytthing but stock 7950GTX driver.

Any driver I install other than the Dell driver for my 7950GTX gives me a blue screen of death. I use the Driver Cleaner/CCleaner approach. I've even reformatted to see if it was some operating system anomaly. I know there's a DLL you can delete to make it work, but I'm not willing to give up the control panel. Is there anything else I can try?

I think you can enable the control panel through a registry tweak. Try this:

That registry tweak isn't working for me. I've been talking to Solapathy, and he's also been giving me advice. Nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different drivers from laptopvideo2go. I am downloading the corresponding modded .inf as well. Using Driver Cleaner Pro and CCleaner between drivers. I have even flashed my 7950 with it's original BIOS and tried flashing. Note that all of the drivers work just fine after renaming or deleting the nvcpl.dll file. Any help would be much appreciated.

Its a known and quite unfortunate issue with the NVCPL.dll problem.

There just seems to be broken code in the Control Panel, and unless someone wants to reverse-engineer the file and fix it, there's really not much we can do .

NVIDIA really needs to get their arse in gear with this.

download this service fix, clean your drives out & reinstall them. See if it resolves your issue.

you ever install Ceaser III by chance?

I'll install that and let you know what happens. Caeser III? What is it?

No dice, man. I appreciate it and I'll rep you. I'm running the 163.15 driver from Laptopvideo2go. It works fine with the nvcpl.dll disabled, so I'll just run it to take advantage of the benefits (if any) of newer drivers. If I want to change clocks I'll flash the card.

Are you saying that the card is locked with these drivers or that you just cant access the control panel to change the clocks?

Anyway, do you happen to remember where the thread is that I promised to modify those drivers for another 7950GTX user?

When I disable the nvcpl.dll by deleting or renaming, ATItool will no longer let me move the clock slider bar. And I am running an unlocked BIOS. I just went back to the stinkin' stock Dell driver again. Here is the thread you are looking for. http://www.notebookforums.com/thread205092.html

I'm assuming you are using either Pieter's or GFT's drivers. I need to know which inf you are using though for LV2G.
